Winter Garden is 14 miles west of downtown Orlando,  80 miles northeast of Tampa and 60 miles west of the spacey city of Cape Canaveral. This central Florida location in western Orange County, Florida is the perfect place to rent an RV. The name “Winter Garden” originated from an event when a tomato seed from a railroad worker’s lunch sprouted and grew in the winter season. Winter Garden has a warm and humid subtropical climate which previously provided ideal conditions for citrus farming, especially orange groves. From rails to trails, the old railway was converted to what is now called “West Orange Trail.” The juicy landscape, just south of Lake Apopka, is filled with a variety of wildlife and recreational opportunities and begs for visit with the Winter Garden RV trailer rental. There are a variety of trails in and around Winter Garden that any RV renter would enjoy. One of the most popular is the West Orange Trail,  which is 22 -miles in length. This trail covers what was previously a railway. Parks along the trail include Chapin Station, Winter Garden, Lake Brim Park, Oakland Nature Preserve and the Butterfly Garden. The Orange County Parks & Recreation Division created a multi-purpose trail suitable for walkers, cyclists, and joggers. Maps are also available at most of the stations and information boards along the trail provide useful information about the flora and fauna you might see along the way. This is a great way to see Winter Garden, Florida in a different and unique way. It is a nice change from the busy theme parks and outlet malls. It’s well worth a visit if you are looking to take a break from the usual attractions and want something different to do.

It is known for its clear freshwater spring and is one of the most popular campgrounds in the Ocala National Forest. Do not miss a kayak or canoe trip down 7-mile Juniper Run. There are plenty of unique shopping and dining opportunities. The downtown farmers market, held every Saturday morning, is rated as one of the best markets of its kind in central Florida. Shop and dine within the Historic Downtown District while you leave the Winter Garden RV rental at a nearby RV resort. There is also a Walmart Supercenter about 9 miles south of Winter Garden. Winter Garden is untouched by large corporations with various chains and is home to mostly small businesses. Some noteworthy activities downtown include the Garden Theater, live music at the plaza on Fridays, history museums, the SoBo Art Gallery, shopping and dining at Winter Garden Village.
