Situated off of Route 22, Whitney is around 60 miles south of Fort Worth and less than 40 miles north of Waco, TX. Because the area is fairly rural, there is only one Walmart locally, in the town of Hillsboro. Camping may be allowed here, just check with the manager to get permission. There are also gas stations with trailer access and truck stops that provide showers within 15 miles of Whitney. Please check with the managers of these locales regarding overnight camping options. The city also features a few grocery stores and several local gas stations that might meet your needs, of course ask for manager approval before staying. Exploring the City

There’s a multitude of attractions near Whitney that provide a variety of fun for people of all ages. The Hill County Courthouse, in Hillsboro, is known for its beautiful architecture, including a floor that was once located in the Austin State Capitol building. The courthouse was rebuilt after a large fire, several years ago, and has become a local relic. The site serves as a bit of a museum for the local area and is known for its decorations around the Christmas season.
