Existing in both Green Oak Township and Northfield Township on the border of two different counties, Whitmore Lake is a small unincorporated community in eastern Michigan. In 1825, Whitmore Lake was named after Luke Whitmore, a local landowner, by surveyor Jonathan F. Stratton.

Only a few thousand people live in this area, and much of the town is centered around the edges of Whitmore Lake itself. This tiny, charming community is located only a few miles from Ann Arbor, a college town that is home to the University of Michigan. Detroit, the largest city in the state, is less than an hour's drive away. When you book an RV in Whitmore Lake, finding adequate points of interest and other sorts of attractions is a breeze. Whitmore Lake is also located in one of the best areas in all of southern Michigan when it comes to camping and outdoor recreation. Several parks and natural areas are just outside of town, so you have plenty of places to explore with your Whitmore Lake camper rental.

Whitmore Lake is known for several celebrations and annual festivities, so it might be a good idea to consider visiting the town during events like the Fourth of July Celebration, the Harvest Festival, or the Michigan Pond Hockey Classic.
