Approximately an hour's drive south of Toledo, Tiffin is a small city in the heart of Ohio with lots to impress you when you rent an RV. This charming community dates back to 1812 when settlers first began to arrive in town and build taverns, schoolhouses, homes, and stagecoach paths. The name Tiffin was chosen in honor of Edward Tiffin, the first governor of Ohio after it became a state. In 1821, the town of Tiffin officially became the seat of Seneca County, and in 1835, it was finally incorporated as a city.

Over the years, Tiffin built many factories in an effort to industrialize but has since backed off this mindset and embraced its education system and proclivity for tourism. This college town has two universities helping to diversify the population, in a truly forward-thinking, wonderful town. When you book an RV in Tiffin, you are only a short drive from Vacationland, Ohio’s famous vacation haven on the shores of Lake Erie.

The Great Outdoors

When you pick up your Tiffin camper rental, it can be a daunting task to figure out what park or recreation area to go to first. Malabar Farm State Park is a lovely farm turned state park once owned by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Louis Bromfield. This historic farm adequately romanticizes farm life, with undeniably beautiful landscapes and old buildings. The park is even known to host some fun festivals like the Maple Sugaring Festival and the Heritage Days Festival.

To the east, Mohican State Park and Mohican-Memorial State Forest account for a wide swath of central Ohio, with lots of space to camp in your Tiffin RV rental by owner. Both the forest and the park fell victim to logging and mining companies, and was later abandoned and transitioned into public-use space. This year-round recreation haven offers opportunities for hiking, fishing, swimming, mountain biking, and picnicking too. Both the park and the forest are great for camping, and both have clearly defined trails too.

Delaware State Park can be reached when you take your Tiffin camper rental south towards the capital city of Columbus. This 2,000-acre gem was once home to the Lenape and Delaware tribes, and now holds second-growth beech and maple trees. The assortment of wildlife in this park is truly a sight to behold, especially if you bring your camera and snap some nature photos.

If you really want to explore the state, bring your Tiffin motorhome rental out towards Cleveland and make use of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This incredible nature paradise is so close to the city, yet it feels so remotely distant at the very same time. There are dense groves of deciduous trees, exquisite hiking paths, rugged gorges, and hidden waterfalls to find when you come to the park, and campsites too, should you need a place to stay.

RV Parks

There isn’t an overwhelming number of campgrounds near Tiffin, but there are still a few to choose from. You can try Walnut Grove RV Park, a family-friendly establishment with nice features. There is a swimming pool, basketball courts, swimming areas in the lake, fishing spots, two playgrounds, and a camp store.

Another place you might want to try is Sunset Springs RV Resort, an upscale spot that can accommodate you and your Tiffin luxury motorhome rental. The park hosts a bevy of weekly events in organic gardens and on their private beach.

Meadowbrook Park is a public park that has been around since the turn of the 19th century. There are campsites within the park, along with a massive swimming pool, sports courts, athletic fields, disc golf courses, and playgrounds.

City Sightseeing

Tiffin is one of the most happening places in Seneca County and northern Ohio as a whole. You can find a variety of places to spend your time when you rent an RV in this dreamy little town, complete with quaint village streets and amazing bridges connecting both sides of the Sandusky River. Amidst the historic homes and structures sits the Seneca County Museum, an invaluable resource where you can dive into the past and learn about the history of Seneca County and Tiffin. The halls of this small museum are adorned with old-time photographs, important artifacts, and informative displays helping paint a picture of how the town came into existence.

The Ritz Theatre is another historic feature of Tiffin, known for its massive Greek columns adorning its front facade and stellar detail in its interior decoration. You can delight in this living piece of the past by taking a tour or buy tickets to one of the many shows, operas, concerts, and comedy acts that take place at the Ritz Theatre throughout the year.

If you have an appreciation for the arts, the Tiffin Glass Museum will surely help get your creative juices flowing. This tiny museum doubles as a shop which sells glass items and pieces that are made on site. On display in the museum are hundreds of individually crafted pieces of art. Learn all you can at the Tiffin Glass Museum about this unique art form.
