About an hour’s drive west of Atlanta, is the captivating little city of Tallapoosa, Georgia. The town is minutes from the Georgia-Alabama state line, with access to Interstate 20. Tallapoosa is a pleasant place to rent an RV, with peaceful, sleepy vibes.

The town was first incorporated back in 1860 and has maintained relatively small size and population ever since. It is surprising to see such a small city with such a lively town center. This paradox of a town is calm and peaceful, but far from boring. The Georgia Visitor Information Center is an invaluable resource for first-time visitors to town, with a treasure trove of information regarding local sightseeing, restaurants, parks, and more.

Mill Town Music Hall is a great place to catch a local concert or show in an intimate setting. This hidden gem often has big-name music acts that tour the country and there is truly not a bad seat in the whole house.

The biggest attraction in the area is the West Georgia Museum of Tallapoosa, an extraordinary collection of artifacts, memorabilia, and informational displays. There are old replica rooms and shops in the museum giving guests a glimpse back into the 1800s, a towering T-Rex skeleton, and Native American artwork to marvel at when you pay the museum a visit.
