Streetman is a town residing in Freestone and Navarro Counties in the state of Texas, although the section of Streetman existing in Navarro County is largely undeveloped. The town can be accessed via Interstate 45 and Texas State Highway 75; the I-45 connects Streetman to Dallas and Houston while State Highway 75 connects Streetman and Fairfield. The town's existence was established in 1906, one year after the arrival of the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway. It was named after the railway employee who surveyed the area, Sam Streetman. The post office in nearby Cade, Texas, was moved to Streetman in 1907 and the town got its first newspaper in 1912. It incorporated two years later.

Book an RV in Freestone County and you are ready to follow the paths blazed by the settlers who arrived here so many years ago. There are other towns and cities that are worth having a look at, even if its a quick look. Corsicana has a history of strong support and participation from women's groups, starting as early as 1857. Palestine's claim to fame starts with being included on the National Register of Historic Places with 23 separate historical site listings and includes its status as the Texas State Railroad's western terminus. Fairfield has a long list of former and current residents with celebrity status, including jazz trumpeter Kenny Dorham and former NFL player Winfred Tubbs. Mexia has a city motto “A great place to live, no matter how you pronounce it”, based on the habit of outsiders to mispronounce the city's name. Hubbard gained its reputation as a health resort in 1895 when mineral water was discovered and a sanitarium and several bathhouses were developed as a result. Your Streetman travel trailer rental is how you will access the grandeur of this countryside and do so in comfort and style.

The Great Outdoors

Oak Park is an outdoor public recreational facility that offers fishing and boating, picnicking, and other activities; anglers have a chance to catch catfish, stripers, and crappies. Visitors to the park should keep their eyes open for squirrels and rabbits, coyotes, bobcats, and a variety of other resident mammals. The area is a kaleidoscope of flower species such as bluebonnets and paintbrushes. Birding is a popular activity here and guests can be on the lookout for hawks, ducks, geese, and many others. Park your Streetman RV trailer rental here and you can use it as a bird or photography blind or take your catch straight from the water to the fridge for later preparation.

Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area is an undeveloped nature preserve where visitors can go hiking, biking or horseback riding, or camp. Hunting is permitted as is fishing in the park's lake and river. The area's purpose is to compensate for the wildlife that was displaced by the creation of the Richland-Chambers Reservoir; the geography consists of large tree stand sections, open fields and marshes, and is home to a wide variety of bird, mammal, and reptile species.

Fort Boggy State Park is an outdoor recreation area with a lake and boat ramp where visitors can launch small boats, canoes, and kayaks. Fishing is allowed on the lake or from the shoreline and there are trails for hiking and mountain biking. The park has picnic tables and an outdoor pavilion which can be reserved.

RV Parks

Oak Park Campground is a semi-developed spot on the shores of Navarro Mills Lake. Most of the sites have trees and shade; all of them have water and electrical outlets, and a few have full hookups. The campground has a dump station, restrooms, and a picnic area with shelters. There are two areas to the park; the day-use area is open to everyone while the beach and swimming area are for guests only. The sites are available for tent camping too.

Lakeside RV Park is an RV campground that rents sites by the day, week, or month. It has a lake where guests can swim, a small wharf for fishing, and a playground for the children. The sites are in an open area and there is a small laundry room for guests to use.

Exploring The City

There is a lot to do around Streetman. There are vineyards and wineries where visitors can sample the local products, and an opry-event center offers musical shows, a dance floor for those who can't sit still, and a ghost tour conducted by the building's owner. There is a vintage marketplace, and also antique stores and an aviation heritage museum. A combination movie theater and bowling alley provides the perfect indoor entertainment venue with an arcade area, big screen TVs showing sports activities, and a go-kart track. Those who still haven't had enough fresh air can participate in a fishing charter from one of several local companies. Be sure to roll down the window when you take your Streetman motorhome rental for a spin on one or several of the local highways. This is an RV vacation ritual and should not be missed.

When it's time for dinner, Streetman and the nearby area again come to the rescue. The city has barbecue joints and bakeries, Chinese and Italian restaurants, and more. A local bistro offers lobster mac 'n' cheese and crab cakes, among other items. A local Mexican restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices and has lunch specials.
