RV Rental Sheridan, OR

Given the small population and a tourism industry that is still in its infancy, there aren’t too many RV parks in the Sheridan area. Wandering Spirit RV Park is one of the only dedicated RV parks nearby, however, it does have quite a few RV sites with full hookups, and also features laundry facilities, a playground and a swimming area. It’s also located just 1.5 miles from the Spirit Mountain Casino.

Lafayette RV Park is located 25 minutes away, near the town of Lafayette, and could be a good choice to set up camp with the Sheridan motorhome rental if you plan on splitting your time between Sheridan and Portland, an hour from the campground.

One option for a “no frills” camping experience is the Polk County Fairgrounds in nearby Rickreall, which has space for several RVs at sites with full hookups in a gravel lot, but next to no amenities. There’s also Dovre Campground, a Bureau of Land Management campground 15 miles to the southwest of Sheridan. The campground has no hookups, but does have an outhouse.

Rocky Bend Campground is also an option for those traveling with a group of RVs as the campground has group rental options. While it has toilets, the campground does not have drinking water available so you’ll need to bring everything that you’d need. The closest Walmart to Sheridan is a few miles away in McMinnville. If you need any extra supplies before heading to your campsite, this will probably be the place to get them.

Renting an RV in Sheridan is all about kicking back and enjoying the peace and quiet of rural Oregon - major attractions are few and far between though. However, the Willamette Valley is famous for its vineyards and there are several in the area that are available for tours. Yamhill Valley, Chateau Bianca, Coeur de Terre, and J Wrigley Vineyards are all a short drive from Sheridan and great places to experience the wine-making processes while also getting a taste of the delicious vino.

If you’d like a little art with your wine, the Lawrence Gallery has some amazing pieces from local artists all the way up to big names like Salvador Dali. As this is a wine region, tastings are also given at the gallery so you can enjoy beautiful paintings while holding a nice glass of sauvignon blanc.

A few miles away in McMinnville, the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum showcases some of the most impressive flying machines from the past several decades. The SR-71 Blackwood and Spruce Goose are both available for viewing in this massive museum and the parking lot is set up to accommodate large RVs.

For a short and easy hike, take the Sheridan rental RV to Erratic Rock State Natural Site near McMinnville. A 0.2-mile trail climbs to the top of a hill for great views of the Oregon Coast Range while also visiting a 40 short ton rock that looks very out of place; glacial activity moved it from the nearby mountain range over a period of thousands of years. Another great option is Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge which is the perfect place for a hike if you’re interested in seeing some of the birds native to the area.

If you’re just hoping to have a picnic while on the Sheridan camper rental vacation, Ed Grenfell Park in McMinnville has a covered area for such outings along with horseshoe pits and a creek for the kids to wade in. If you’re up for a big trek, the Oregon Coast Range has innumerable hiking opportunities within an hour’s drive of Sheridan. Unfortunately, navigating the narrow, often unmarked forest service roads can be quite the challenge, especially with a longer RV. If you do decide to brave them, the two-mile long Niagara Falls Trail takes hikers through an impressive box canyon before reaching a 120-foot-tall waterfall.
