Sequim, Washington (pronounced “skwim”) is located on the northern tip of the Olympic Peninsula. Despite its location in the generally rainy Pacific Northwest, the aptly nicknamed “Sunny Sequim” lies in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains and only receives about 16 inches of rain per year, making it the ideal location to book an RV in Clallam County. Thanks to this arid climate, Sequim is perfectly suited to growing lavender and is known as the Lavender Capital of North America.

Nestled between the beautiful Strait of Juan de Fuca and the rainforests of Olympic National Park, Sequim is only about a two-hour drive away from the major metropolis of Seattle and a quick boat ride from Victoria, BC. No matter your passions, if you rent an RV in Sequim, you will have easy access to a wealth of activities.

Discover Sequim

The Great Outdoors

Sequim is a popular destination for cyclists, and the town sits along the Olympic Discovery Trail. This trail spans 120 miles between Port Townsend and Port Angeles and includes 40 miles of pavement between Sequim and Port Angeles. The Olympic Discovery Trail takes you through beautiful scenic and historic areas, and passes by other outdoor attractions like the Olympic Game Farm and the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge Area. Sequim also hosts an annual Tour de Lavender for dedicated cyclists and lavender connoisseurs!

Olympic National Park is a breathtaking place to explore with your RV rental near Sequim. A designated World Heritage Site, the park is home to the stunning Olympic mountains and the Hoh Rainforest. It is a very popular destination for hiking, mountain biking, and enjoying natural hot springs.

Sequim Bay provides access to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and is the perfect place to book a cruise, rent a kayak, or test your balance with a stand up paddleboard. Crabbing is also a popular pursuit in Sequim. The Olympic Peninsula is a prime whale watching destination from March through October, and there are several companies offering whale watching tours in the area.

RV Parks

If you opt for camper rental in Sequim, you will have a multitude of RV parks to choose from. One excellent option is Gilgal Oasis RV Park. It offers paved roads and 28 paved sites, with 18 of the sites being pull-through to make navigating your RV a breeze. Each of the sites is landscaped and includes full hookups, free wifi, and picnic tables. The communal area includes a clubhouse with a full kitchen, shower and restrooms, and a laundry facility. An added bonus is that the hosts will arrange a whale watching tour or boat trip to Victoria for you, and you can catch the Sequim city buses from the RV park.

If you love water sports and the beach, John Wayne’s Waterfront Resort is another beautiful option. The resort’s RV sites offer full hookups, cable TV, and wifi. The sites offer stunning views of Sequim Bay and easy access to John Wayne Marina, so named because it sits on land donated by the famous actor’s family. Wayne frequently cruised the area on his family yacht.

A multitude of gas stations and grocery stores are located in town, so you will never run short on essentials while vacationing with your Sequim motorhome rental. There is also a Walmart Supercenter in town that may allow you to park your RV there overnight if you obtain the manager’s permission.

Exploring the City

As mentioned above, Sequim is best known for its lavender. It is home to many lavender farms and hosts an annual Lavender Weekend, where many of the farms are open to tours. The three-day street fair boasts more than 150 artisan and lavender booths, a food court, and live music performances. Almost every type of lavender product imaginable is available for sale during this festival, from soaps and oils to culinary ingredients to beautiful bouquets of the herb.

The annual Sequim Irrigation Festival began in 1896 and is the longest running festival in the state of Washington. More glamorous than it sounds, the festival celebrates the creation of irrigation ditches that brought water from the Dungeness River to the nearby prairie lands. It includes logging shows, a grand parade, pageant royalty, and much more.

If you rent a motorhome in Sequim during either of these major festivals, make reservations well in advance and expect crowds and a party atmosphere!

The town’s wide variety of restaurants includes delicious Mexican cantinas and pizza joints, as well as classic fast food options. Epicures should explore the mouthwatering Olympic Culinary Loop, which features farm and sea to table dining experiences with regional and Native American influences, plus handcrafted wines and ciders.
