Sites and Scenery

Some of the beautiful features of the landscape in and around Pullman are the rolling Palouse hills. Enjoy the scene by hiking or biking up the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail, which starts in downtown Pullman and ends in nearby Moscow, Idaho. The gorgeous hills are highlighted, and the well-maintained trail includes trail information stations that share the history, geography, plant, and wildlife of the area.

City Sites

A highlight of the Pullman area is the Washington State University campus, which is the original campus, and the largest campus of this great university. Just a 1.5-hour drive north of Pullman, you can visit Spokane, a nice city with many worthwhile places to visit. You can’t miss the famous Spokane Falls, right in the middle of the city, as well as the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture which focuses on the areas of Native American history and heritage. The Tudor-style Campbell House also highlights the pioneer history of the area. Another popular spot is the huge Riverfront Park, site of the 1974 World’s Fair, with its sculpture walk, cable car, pretty scenic meadows, and IMAX theater, and the 1909 historic Looff Carousel ride.

Centennial Trail offers a lovely hike or bike ride through the heart of downtown. Running some nine miles past some of Spokane’s many historical sites and buildings, this is a great way to get a feel for this city in eastern Washington.
