Powder Springs, Georgia is a mid-sized city on the west side of Atlanta. Powder Springs has a somewhat turbulent history. Founded in the 1830s, Powder Springs was land that belonged to two Cherokee chiefs. Gold was discovered in the area around the time the Native Americans in Georgia were made to march across the country on the Trail of Tears. Unfortunately for the prospectors who flooded the region, they found very little gold and the gold rush which inflicted the city soon ended.

Despite this misfortune, Powder Springs has always been a favorite place to settle due to its fertile farmland and its proximity to seven freshwater springs. The town gets its name from these springs and the minerals in the water, turning the rock in the city black like gunpowder. In modern times, Powder Springs is still a popular place because of its easy access to Atlanta. This accessibility, coupled with the nature in the surrounding area, makes Powder Springs an ideal place to rent an RV.
