At first glance, the tiny town of Pinecliffe doesn’t look like it has too much to offer the average tourist. It’s a small community consisting of just a few houses and a post office on the road between Nederville and Boulder. However, to the more intrepid traveler, it’s an opportunity for an adventure off the beaten path.

The area around the town is crisscrossed by several excellent hiking trails that permit visitors to explore the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Both the Roosevelt and Arapaho National Forests are close by. However, know that Pinecliffe sits at a breathtaking elevation of just over 8,000 feet, so be prepared for a period of adjustment before taking on any intense aerobic activity when you get a travel trailer rental in Pinecliffe.

However, for those looking for great historical sights and interesting attractions, they’re only a short drive away in some of Colorado’s most exciting mountain towns.

Book an RV in Pinecliffe to experience this spectacular region and see all that it has to offer.

The Great Outdoors

Everywhere around Pinecliffe is forest so you won’t need to go far to find some great outdoor recreation. Just down the road from Pinecliffe is Tungsten Mountain, which has a rather easy loop trail at its base. This is the perfect place to take the little ones or your favorite four-legged companion for a short walk.

Given how close Pinecliffe is to Rocky Mountain National Park, it would be a big mistake not to visit during your vacation there. The park is home to a diverse set of biomes, ranging from alpine tundra at its highest points above treeline to dense forest in its valleys. Autumn is a particularly good time of year to visit the park, as you’ll have the chance to see the leaves change. If you’re visiting during the warmer months and get a smaller RV rental in Pinecliffe, you can drive the Old Fall River Road, an improved gravel roadway that reaches some of the park’s highest points. It’s a fantastic way to experience the park the same way visitors did decades ago.

Another must-visit outdoor attraction when you rent an RV in Pinecliffe is Gross Reservoir on Boulder Creek. The body of water serves as a drinking water supply for the city of Denver, so no swimming or motorized boats are permitted there, however, it is open for fishing and kayaking as well as camping along its shoreline.

Site amenities at Peak to Peak include full hookups, a few restaurants close to the park, and easy access to fuel.

Most of the other nearby options are located in the edge of the Denver Metro and won’t give you the feeling of being immersed in nature. However, they also have more campsite amenities for your RV rental in Pinecliffe, Colorado.

Countrywood Inn and RV Park in Longmont has full hookups (including cable TV), laundry facilities, and high-speed internet access. Another similar option is Clear Creek RV Park in Golden, which has full hookups, laundry facilities, showers, a community center, and is close to some great shopping. While you’re there, you can also take a tour of one of the local breweries.

One the closest Walmarts can be found in Broomfield. It’s not particularly close by, but with manager permission, you might be able to stay here for a couple of nights with your Pinecliffe camper rental.

Exploring the Town of Pinecliffe

Pinecliffe is an incredibly isolated community; so don’t expect many trendy restaurants or tourist shops to be nearby. The closest services are located in the town of Nederville and they have a handful of restaurants and stores to peruse. However, while you’re there, you should check out the Nederland Mining Museum, which follows the history of gold, silver, and tungsten mining in the area. It’s home to some excellent artifacts from the mid-19th century including rock crushers and steam shovels. There’s also the Carousel of Happiness, a theme park ride stocked with dozens of historic hand-painted horses for kids to ride on.

For a truly urban experience, you can make a day trip to Boulder, one of America’s most vibrant college towns. The town is famous for its excellent breweries, wide-selection of eco-friendly businesses, and for its extensive list of international restaurants. It’s also home to the beloved Celestial Tea Factory, one of the U.S.’s largest herbal tea manufacturers. A tour through the factory is a must for any tea lover and the smells throughout it can only be described as heavenly.
