Situated about halfway between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine Beach, the small city of Palm Coast is one of the most beautiful and centrally-located beachfront cities in all of Florida. Palm Coast is also only an hour’s drive south of Jacksonville and just under two hours’ drive northeast of Orlando, so it’s the perfect place to rent an RV on your tour of northern and central Florida.

As far as public transportation goes, Palm Coast has very little, so know that you’ll need to rely on your own rig to transport you between the different beaches and parking could be costly at some of them.

RV Parks near Palm Coast

Northern Florida is a favorite destination among RV enthusiasts, not only for its fantastic weather and endless beaches but also for its numerous RV parks and facilities. Parks can be found up and down the coast, you’ll just need to choose which beach you want to stay near (not an easy task in this part of the country).

Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort is located eight miles to the south of Palm Coast on Beverly Beach. It has prime ocean access, so you won’t need to walk more than a few steps to have your toes in the sand. Another option is Holiday Travel Park, fifteen miles to the south of the city in the town of Bunnell. It’s a few miles west of the beach, but it’s great if you’d like a little more privacy and it’s very close to Bulow Creek State Park. Harris Village and RV Park a little farther south, 22 miles from Palm Coast and five miles to the west of Ormond Beach. Tomoka State Park, just steps away, has excellent hiking opportunities.

RV parks to the north of Palm Coast include Compass RV Park and Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort, both of which are near to St. Augustine Beach. These are both good choices if you’re thinking about making any trips up to Jacksonville with the Palm Coast RV rental while you’re in the area. If you’re looking for somewhere to stock up on supplies, there are Walmarts near St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. Dump facilities and fuel can be found at the Flying J Travel Center, 17 miles north of Palm Coast on I-95.

Exploring the City of Palm Coast

Palm Coast doesn’t have quite as many attractions as some of the larger cities in Florida. However, what it lacks in big-ticket sights, it more than makes up for with a laid-back beach vibe. The city and surrounding areas are great places to explore with a Palm Coast rental RV when you just want to hear the sounds of the ocean and meet some interesting people while you’re doing it.

Many visitors forget that due to Florida’s hot and humid climate, it’s one of the most productive agricultural centers in the United States. Palm Coast’s Florida Agriculture Museum explores the history of the region and looks at its potential future. They also host the Farm Swap and Music Jam every Thursday during the cooler seasons, which has all sorts of great food and even groovier tunes.

Despite having a smaller art scene than larger cities like Jacksonville, Palm Coast still has its share of galleries including the Baliker Gallery, Art Lemay Studio, Hollingsworth Gallery, and Bess Studio. These smaller galleries are great for appreciating the works of local artists without the crowds you’d see at galleries in metropolises like Tampa and Miami.

For a taste of the finer things in life, head to Hammock Wine and Cheese with the motorhome rental in Palm Coast. They have wine tastings every Friday. Additionally, they permit dogs in their outdoor seating area, which is very convenient if you’re bringing Fido along on the trip. They also have live music every weekend. The Flagler Beachfront Winery is another great place to sample the local vino in addition to some delicious tapas. They’ve got live music every Friday and host parties celebrating the rocket launches at Cape Canaveral, located about an hour and a half north of them.

If you’re looking for good food though, it isn’t hard to come by in the Palm Coast area - slow-cooked meats at Captain’s BBQ are a perennial favorite. If you’re seeking an unpretentious place to enjoy the riches of the sea though, JT’s Seafood Shack just south of the Hammock Beach Resort is the place to go.

Getting Outside near Palm Coast

Obviously renting an RV in Palm Coast is going to involve a fair amount of time at the beach with Daytona, Flagler, St. Augustine and Beverly Beach all in close proximity. However, the beach isn’t the only place to spend some time outside. Bulow Creek State Park and Tomoka State Park are a 15-minute drive south of Palm Coast and both have some great hiking trails and opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. Matanzas State Forest is just 10 minutes north of the city and is good for a stroll through Fort Matanzas National Monument, a military installation that predates America’s independence.

Many visitors to Palm Coast also enjoy a trip to the Marineland Dolphin Adventure Park, where you can swim with trained dolphins and interact with the highly intelligent creatures.

When you book an RV in Palm Coast, Florida, expect a fun and easy experience. Consider making it your next vacation destination.
