Other notable people who live or have lived in Owosso are authors Emile Benoit and Diane Carey.

Fowlerville hosts numerous large events such as concerts by well-known entertainers, horse racing, and the county fair throughout the year. Grand Ledge is a popular destination for rock climbers who seek out the sandstone and quartzite ledges that rise dozens of feet above the Grand River (the town is named after them). The Great Outdoors

Huron-Manistee National Forests are a combination of dry sand prairie remnants and dunes, marshes and coastal marshlands, oak savannas and more. The purpose of this refuge is to reclaim the natural landscapes that have been lost to industrialization and urbanization and to provide public access to outdoor recreation areas. It is a popular area for camping and fishing, swimming at day-use beach areas, and other activities. Picnicking and hiking the park's many trails is a good way to spend the afternoon or visitors can take a scenic self-guided auto tour. In the winter, guests can use the park to go cross-country skiing.

Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge is an undeveloped bird sanctuary nestled between urban and agricultural areas, comprised of marshes, rivers, and floodplain forest. Migratory birds and endangered animal species occupy the area, as well as endangered plant species. In addition to being recognized for its reclamation success, it is a well-known outdoor recreational area where visitors can hike, fish, and hunt. Wildlife viewing and photography can be enjoyed, and it has a scenic auto route for guests to explore. Your Owosso camper rental is a perfect blind for nature viewing in comfort.

DeVries Nature Conservancy is a semi-developed recreation area with a play area for young children, a nature center with exhibits, wildlife and educational programs, and opportunities for the public to hike and view the park's resident wildlife. It is open from dawn to dusk year-round.
