Orefield is an unincorporated community split between two townships (North and South Whitehall) in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. It was formerly the end of the line for the Ironton Road's Siegersville branch which hauled the limonite (iron ore) that was mined there; the town was named after the ore. Many of the former Dutch farms in the area have been converted to suburban housing developments, and there are still numerous covered bridges crossing Jordan Creek south of Orefield. It is home to a dog food factory, and claims among its past and present residents two professional athletes, author, and TV personality Carson Kressley and artist/animator/illustrator Stephen Kroninger.
