Nunn is a very small town that’s just a short drive from northern Colorado’s most populous city, Fort Collins. The town’s location along Highway 85 rather than the more trafficked Interstate 25 means that it doesn’t see too many tourists and has remained mostly undeveloped.

When you book an RV in Nunn, you can expect a low-key affair, though you'll have the option to take easy day trips to some of Colorado’s more attraction-filled cities. From Fort Collins, it’s possible to take public transportation into downtown Denver, which may be a better option than driving there when you choose a travel trailer rental in Nunn; the traffic in Denver is the stuff of legends.

The Great Outdoors

If you’re just looking for a place to picnic or read a book in the shade of a leafy tree, head to Willard Park on Nunn’s west side. There’s not much way in the way of amenities there, but it is a large open grassy space where you could plan an evening out with the family.

The Pawnee National Grassland is also not too far away and offers some excellent opportunities for wildlife spotting. Deer, bison, pronghorns, and coyotes all make their home here; without too many trees to obstruct the views, finding them isn’t all too hard. While many visitors might forgo a visit to the grasslands in favor of the high peaks to the west, if you really want to see all the Colorado has to offer, a visit to the plains is a must.

No trip to northern Colorado would be complete without a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s one of the most popular parks in the national park system and it’s not hard to see why. Rocky Mountain National Park is blessed with a diversity of landscapes – some of the highest peaks in the continental United States, verdant river valleys that dazzle with color in the autumn months, and azure lakes that beckon visitors to swim in the summer.

RV Parks near Nunn

One of the closest options for camping with the RV rental near Nunn is at the Fort Collins North/Wellington KOA. Sites at the park are equipped with full hookups, and there are laundry facilities and a swimming pool. If you seek lots of amenities and spending time with other travelers, this could be a decent place to set up camp during your Nunn RV rental vacation. There’s another KOA campground on the western edge of the city, Fort Collins Lakeside KOA. This park has sites with full hookups, a mini-golf course, a swimming pool, a dog park, and bike rentals. It also sits next to a series of ponds adjacent to the Cache la Poudre River, which can be great for fishing.

For a more rustic experience when you choose a camper rental in Nunn and check out some of the forest service campgrounds to the west of Fort Collins. Ansel Watrous Campground is one of the closest and offers drinking water, fire rings, and vault toilets. However, the main reason you’d want to camp here is the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests. There are even a few trailheads just outside the campground.

Another option could be the parking lot of the Fort Collins Walmart. With manager permission, it might be possible to stay here for a couple of days, but you won’t have any amenities, so come fully prepared.

Exploring the Town of Nunn

Due to Nunn’s small size, there aren’t too many attractions in town. There are only a couple of restaurants in town and the next closest one is a little way down the road in the town of Pierce. There are also not many shops, but you can find some great deals if you head down to the nearby city of Loveland and visit their outlet mall. There are several name brand stores there and the items are often deeply discounted.

The High Plains Historical Society is one of the few attractions to visit when you choose a motorhome rental in Nunn. It resides in a two-story Depression-era building that once housed the town clerk, police department, and fire department. Today it’s full of interesting artifacts from Colorado’s fur trapping and pioneer days.

To see some other interesting sights you’ll need to drive over to Fort Collins. The city is most known for being the home of New Belgium Brewery. The city is also where the Budweiser Brewery Experience is located. The brewing museum highlights how their beer is created, along with some of the more intriguing aspects of the Anheuser-Busch Company – like their famous Clydesdale horses.

When you rent an RV in Nunn though, one of the best things to do is hit the open road. Make a trip over to the Rocky Mountains and take a drive through some of the legendary ski towns that pop up along the highway. Places like Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs conjure up images of daredevils shooting down a winter slope, but they’re also wildly popular with summer tourists looking to browse through their quaint shops and eat at the fine restaurants. Having the freedom to travel is the best part of having an RV rental.
