The small residential town of New Freedom, Pennsylvania got its start as an industrial railroad hub but has since transitioned into a peaceful town. The town was once named Freedom for the Free family that helped settle it, but the name was later changed to New Freedom out of respect for another town already possessing the name of Freedom.

New Freedom is located approximately halfway between Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, and Baltimore, the largest city in the neighboring state of Maryland. With stellar events like the New Freedom Lions Club Carnival and the Annual New Freedom Festival in September, you can truly experience the small-town culture and its laid back charm first hand when you rent an RV in this amazing little city.

Although it is quite beautiful in its own way, the park is known more for its historical context as opposed to its natural beauty. Gettysburg National Military Park was created as a monument to honor the fallen in one of the most notorious battles in American history that took place over the course of three days in 1863. You can tour the wide-open battlefields and see different headquarters, cottages, and old burial grounds, led by knowledgeable park rangers.
