The small town of Nashville is in central Michigan and is the perfect destination to unplug from the rest of the world and get back in touch with the beauty of the natural world. With three of the Great Lakes within reasonable driving distance and plenty of forests to explore, Michigan can feel like a playground to nature lovers. Nashville, with its incredibly central location, allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in all things Michigan. You can spend your days hiking, swimming, or cross-country skiing to your heart’s content. The town may have gotten its beginning as a railroad stopover town, but when you rent an RV in Nashville, you will see that the town does its best to remain true to itself and in touch with the world around it.

When you book an RV in Barry County, you open up a world unexplored. So much of Michigan tourism is centered on the Great Lakes, and by staying in Barry County, you will get to see a whole new side of Michigan, one filled with Main Street USAs, beautiful landscapes, and friendly, small-town charm.

The Great Outdoors

Just a short drive directly west of town is the Yankee Springs Recreation Area in Middleville, Michigan. At the 5,200-acre Yankee Springs, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of ecosystems to explore, such as ponds, bogs, marshes, streams, forests, and so much more. You can take a hike around the lake or over the marshes, try your hand at fishing in the waterways, or even go canoeing or kayaking down the river. Along the 30 miles of hiking trails, which transform into cross-country skiing trails in the winter, you will be able to explore a large section of this protected park and many of its unique habitats.

A short drive to the south of town is the Fort Custer State Recreation Area in Augusta, Michigan. Fort Custer is a unique park in the Michigan system because it was used during World War II as a military training ground. Today, you can explore the forests, waterways, and even prairies thanks to the 25 miles of trails that wind their way through the park. If you want to get a better view of the Kalamazoo River, the main waterway through the park, you can rent a kayak and head out down the river.

If you’re looking for an easy day trip to take with the Nashville camper rental, you can head southeast to the Waterloo State Recreation Area in Chelsea, Michigan. One of the largest parks in Michigan at 20,000 acres, Waterloo has a vast amount of outdoor recreational activities to enjoy; however, the park is most known for its mountain biking trails. With 17 miles of biking trails, eight of which are open year-round, you will be able to conquer some of Michigan’s most beautiful trails. If biking isn’t your idea of fun, you can head out on the 50+ miles of trails that wind their way through this massive forest. If you find yourself needing to stop and take a breather, you can unwind on the Portage Lake beach and soak up some sun.

RV Parks

When you rent an RV in Nashville, make sure you find yourself a place to spend the night. Luckily enough, there are plenty of RV parks and campgrounds in the area that are worth considering.

Just west of town, along the banks of the Thornapple River, is the Rivergate Family Campground. At Rivergate, guests will have access to full hookups and a dump station, and restroom and shower facilities. Guests can also explore the river with easy access to canoe, kayak, and tube rentals at a nearby rental facility.

A short drive south of Nashville is Camp Turkeyville RV Resort. At Camp Turkeyville, guests will have access to full hookups, showers, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi. Guests will also have use of two pools and an on-site general store.

Explore the City

Even though you could probably relax by the lakeside beaches forever, don’t miss the opportunity to explore some of the local community. There is plenty to see, do, and learn in the area that you are sure to enjoy every minute of the Nashville RV rental vacation.

Just to the west of town is the Historic Charlton Park. At Charlton Park, visitors can walk around this partially preserved, partially recreated historic village to learn more about the earlier settlers to the area. Many of the buildings were found throughout Barry County and moved to this location, so the park does a great job of showcasing the county as a whole.

If you are a fan of old toys, then head southwest of Nashville to the Midwest Miniatures Museum. You will see dollhouses filled with miniatures, recreated scenes, themed exhibits, and even miniature items made out of silver and crystal. The handiwork and craftsmanship necessary to make these little works of art are sure to astound you.

If you want to take your relaxation to the next level, then bring or rent yourself a set of golf clubs. Central Michigan, with its naturally hilly landscape, is filled with golf courses. In fact, there are nearly a dozen golf courses within easy driving distance of Nashville. You can spend your day on the links and breathe in that fresh Michigan air.

The majority of Michigan’s immigrants came from central Europe, so when you’re looking for a sweet treat, try to find a local bakery. You are sure to find yourself delighted by the various pastries and treats, including the local favorite: the paczki.

When you find yourself needing to restock and refuel your RV rental in Nashville, your best options will be along Main Street, the road that runs north-south through town.
