Napavine is considered a bedroom community for larger regions of Washington state, including Olympia and Cowlitz. It was officially incorporated in 1913, but settlers began arriving in this area in the mid-19th century. A Scottish immigrant by the name of James Urquhart named the area Napavine based on the Native American word ‘Napavoon,’ which means “small prairie”. When you book one of the RV rentals in Lewis County, you’ll be in the midst of the central region of the state, not too far away from some amazing forest lands, mountain ranges, and gorgeous blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Napavine is located about 30 miles south of Olympia, which rests right along the Budd Inlet. To the southeast, you can visit Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument near Harrington Place. A bit farther to the southeast is Gifford Pinchot National Forest. If you head north, you can check out Capitol State Forest near Olympia or, if you don’t mind a two-hour drive north with your motorhome rental in Napavine, you can visit Olympic National Park.
Even though it’s a relatively small community, there are plenty of things to enjoy in and around Napavine. One of those is Fort Borst Park, located in Centralia, Washington. It is a beautiful park that sits right along Interstate 5 with easy access, whether you’re heading north or south on the interstate. They have a playground for children and large, thick trees that offer wonderful shade during the summer months. There is a duck pond, fishing is allowed, and there are plenty of walking trails and paths to enjoy any time of the year.
King Agriculture Museum is also located in Centralia and offers 18,000 square feet of things to enjoy, including garden tractors, pedal tractors, toy models, logging equipment, and numerous other agriculture-related items. You can see a great deal about what it takes our farmers to produce the food we enjoy, down to what's in the kitchen of that luxury RV rental from Napavine.
When you rent an RV, you’ll probably want to get outside for some of the time. Rainbow Falls State Park in Chehalis is a great destination. It is a quiet setting along the Chehalis River and the falls aren’t anything major, but the atmosphere is peaceful and enjoyable. It is also a campground, so depending on when you visit, you may see other people around.
Because of its proximity to I-5, you won’t have any trouble finding fueling stations. You might even find a Walmart where you may be able to park the Napavine RV rental for a night; just make sure to confirm your stay with store management.
There are also some RV parks in the area, including the Chehalis RV & Camping Resort. They offer full hookup service, including 50 amp electric. They also have a seasonal pool and pull-through sites. Some sections do close during the winter months.
Riverside RV Park is located in Chehalis and offers full hookup service, including 30 and 50 amp electric. There are plenty of recreational trails branching out from here and it is close to Chehalis and Centralia if you want to enjoy some dining or entertainment. It is also right along a golf course, which could provide an opportunity to enjoy a round or two.
The Ike Kinswa State Park is located in Mossyrock, Washington and offers full hookup service, including 30 amp electric. They don’t have any amenities, but they do have pull-through sites and big rig access. It is a beautiful park with large sites, but some of the area is closed during the winter months. Also, during the winter months, the water is turned off so it would be advisable to fill up at the dump station on the way in.
If you head over to Chehalis, check out the Chehalis Centralia Railroad & Museum. You can ride on the 1916 logging locomotive and take a gorgeous scenic journey over nine miles of the Chehalis River Valley. You can also enjoy the 1920's-style coaches, which will be a far cry from the best RV rental Napavine has to offer.
Antiquing is another activity that is highly popular in many communities across the country, including in this part of Washington State. There are numerous antique shops up and down the area, especially as you get close to I-5, Route 507, and other major arteries that cut through this part of the state. When you have a motorhome rental in Napavine, you’re certain to find plenty of antique shops, if that’s your thing.
Also in Chehalis, you will find the Lewis County Historical Museum. It is kid-friendly and offers a great collection of historic items to enjoy. It is an old train depot and, as you’ll find, the railway was and is a major part of the growth of this region of the country.
