Millersburg is a village in Holmes County, Ohio. It was first planned in 1815 for what would become the “Old Town;” plans for the “New Town” were developed in 1824. Holmes County was established in 1824 and was largely populated by Dutch and German immigrants. In 1863, many of the Holmes County citizens denounced the forced conscription to fight in the war, stating that forced recruitment was why they had left their home countries for America. Today, Holmes County has one of the largest Amish communities in the world, which is an attraction for many of the tourists who come.

Search for an RV in Holmes County, and you can choose from amongst a wide variety of RV makes and models which are perfectly suited for a vacation in Ohio. While you are here, consider checking out some other communities too. Lodi is well known for its Sweet Corn Festival held annually in July; it includes a parade and a tug-of-war. Bolivar is the location of an American Revolution fort, the only such fort in the state of Ohio. Mount Vernon was named after an estate owned by George Washington. Loudonville is nicknamed “The Canoe Capital of Ohio” because it has many canoe rental businesses along the Mohican River. Your Millersburg travel trailer rental is your invitation to explore this scenic and historic countryside.

The Great Outdoors

Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area is a multi-purpose natural reserve providing wildlife sanctuary and limited public access. A significant portion of the area is marsh and is managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ducks Unlimited who have built dikes and nesting areas to increase the marsh size and encourage warblers and barn owls to stay. River otters and trumpeter swans were introduced and have increased to sizable populations. Visitor can hunt, fish, and nature watch in select areas, but the refuge is off limits.

Beach City Wildlife Area was created when a dam was built to create a reservoir; the purpose of this was for flood control, but visitors can fish, hunt, and trap with the appropriate permits. Much of the area is seasonally or permanently flooded, but there are some areas where visitors can hike trails through scenic landscapes. There is a waterfall that can be accessed from the trails; the area is also a good destination for birding, wildlife viewing, and photography. Keep your Millersburg RV rental nearby, and use it as the perfect wildlife viewing or photography blind while enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

Malabar Farm State Park is a working farm that also functions as a tourist destination and an educational resource. Visitors can take a guided tour, stroll through the park gardens, or take a hike on the many park trails. Guests can also view the farm animals up close or take a nighttime ghost tour of the property.

RV Parks

There are a number of RV parks and campgrounds near Millersburg, and some of them may have mobile homes. Your Millersburg RV trailer rental is your guarantee of a comfortable and relaxing vacation while you are here.

Butler / Mohican KOA Journey is a family-friendly RV park situated in a forested area with a heated swimming pool, a playground and game room, and much more. The park management also hosts frequent social activities, so that the guests can mix and mingle. The park has the usual amenities (showers and laundry) plus hayrides and fire truck rides. Some of the sites have full hookups, others electric and water hookups, plus a choice of pull-through or back-in access.

Exploring The City

Millersburg has a long history and some very unique attractions to visit, starting with a local glass museum. The museum is a tribute to the glassworks factory that once existed here and has displays of glassware and glass shards, both of which are stained in different colors. Some of the glass will react to ultraviolet light, and there is a guide to provide information and answer questions. There is a Victorian house that provides tours explaining the architecture of the period, an authentic Amish home that welcomes visitors, and an antique emporium that connects to a toy store, offering visitors a glimpse of items both old and new.

Those looking to nibble away the afternoon should check out a local farm-bakery and a cheese factory. The farm-bakery has fried pies and pre-cooked pies you can bake at home, as well as an arts and crafts area, a petting zoo, and horse-drawn buggy rides. The cheese factory has samples for visitors to try and cheese of all varieties for sale; it also offers chocolate and baked goods. While you're enjoying your afternoon, remember to take some time out to take a ride in your Millersburg motorhome rental. There is something about cruising the highways in an RV that can't be experienced anywhere else, and you will understand this once you have done it.

When dinnertime rolls around, Millersburg has you covered (assuming the pies and cheese haven't ruined your appetite). There is a large list of restaurants available, some of which are large commercial enterprises, but there are still more than enough locally owned eateries to choose from. One locally owned and operated Mexican restaurant has an extensive menu and is open for lunch and dinner. Portions are large, so you should wrap up your leftovers and take them back to your Millersburg luxury RV rental for a late-night snack.
