The town of McHenry sits 55 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop and 60 miles south of the culture-packed port city of Milwaukee, WI, in a classic suburban region close to the shores of Lake Michigan. When you book an RV in McHenry you can see the best that the Chicagoland region has to offer while avoiding the dense traffic and high prices that come with staying close to the city.

If you do decide to go into the city, the Union Pacific Northwest commuter rail line runs directly from the downtown McHenry to the Ogilvie Transportation Center on the Chicago Loop. The ride lasts about an hour and a half, about the same time it would take to drive there, and you won’t have to worry about parking or navigating the congestion with the McHenry RV rental.

If you’re looking for swimming and kayaking though, it’s wonderful. For beautiful powdery sands, you’ll want to take a trip to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. With miles of hiking trails through the fluffy dunes, you’ll feel like you’re on the California coast with your McHenry camper rental.
