The Great Outdoors

The Keystone State is pale in comparison to states such as Tennessee and Colorado in terms of outdoor activities, but Pennsylvania has just as many activities to engage in, even though at a much smaller scale. Escape north-west to the Hickory Run State Park for endless fun out on the trails. The expansive park has over 40 miles of hiking trails spanning across diverse terrain. A hike across the boulder field doesn't sound as much fun while reading, but you'll be in for a surprise. If in the mood for cycling, don't worry if you didn't bring a bike, there are bike rentals available. Apart from hitting the trails, one can have a peaceful time fishing in the streams or enjoy an action-packed game of disc golf.

If you're feeling more adventurous, hop into your motorhome rental from Mainland and enjoy a drive to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. To fully enjoy the vast forested national park, you'll have to set aside a whole day. The park features an impressive network of hiking trails complete with World-class fishing opportunities for both beginners and expert anglers. Did I mention that the legendary Appalachian Trail makes its way through the park? The park has loads of hidden gems including waterfalls and off the beaten path trails. Overall, the park is perfect for people seeking quiet time with nature.

Perhaps the most stunning thing about Mainland is its proximity to New Jersey and New York. This means that a drive to the Atlantic coast would take only about an hour and a half, perfect for a day trip with the family. Pack your best swimsuit and some sunscreen lotion and take the family for a road trip past Philadelphia and all the way to Atlantic City, NJ. Known for its bustling boardwalks and major beach concerts, the beach at Atlantic City won't disappoint. Don't forget to take the kids out to the steel pier. They have rides for both kids and adults, so don't be left out of all the fun. Just hope for a clear sky as the view of the Atlantic City skyline from above the Ferris wheel is nothing short of spectacular.

RV Parks

When you rent a camper rental in Mainland, the next course of action would be to find RV parks in the area to call home for a night or a few days. Consider setting up camp at Oak Grove Park in Hatfield if you don't want to be far away from town. The campground features full hookups on adequately sized back-in sites for your RV rental. The pet-friendly park also has a pool and a playground.

An alternative in the area is Village Scene Mobile Home Park which, also has full hookups complete with shower facilities and WiFi for your Mainland travel trailer rental.

If you're just passing through the area, contact the local Walmart in Harleysville and ask for permission to camp in the parking lot for a day or two. If they give you a green light, it'll be amenity free but the close proximity to all the city's attractions.

Exploring the City

Mainland may be a small town but, what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for it in attractions. You don't have to venture far beyond the city limits to have some fun. The town is home to Mainland Golf Course, a wonderfully maintained course with a clubhouse restaurant. Featuring numerous bunkers on the gently rolling terrain, the course suits golfers of all skill levels.

Located just outside town, Evansburg State Park is a hidden gem. The trails in the park are well marked, making it great for a family hike. There is also a playground, and fishing is possible. The biking trails are short but surprisingly technical, making for tough climbs and thrilling descents.

When it comes to stretching your legs or walking the dog, Fischer's Park is the best bet. Situated within walking distance from town, the park consists of a couple of pavilions, a nice creek, and a couple of jogging and walking paths. Children have two fenced in playgrounds to play in.

If it's a Pennsylvania town with lots of outdoor activities you are seeking to explore, consider a motorhome rental in Mainland. Hike along one of the many trails, watch the kiddos play at a playground, relax by a campfire, and enjoy the scenery. Rent a luxury motorhome in Mainland, PA, and have fun in the Keystone State!
