About 55 miles southeast of Dallas, TX lies the lakeside town of Mabank. In the late 1800s, there wasn't a town nearby the local railroad station. Given that the area was so well-known for its cotton exports, the locals decided to establish the town of Mabank to serve as a way of quickly loading up the trains that went through. Mabank sits right next to the railroad, which makes transportation much easier.
While it's mostly farmland, Mabank sits right next to a man-made reservoir and another state park lake. It's also situated conveniently right on Highway 175 where travelers can stop by for food, gas, and a nice rest before hitting the road again. Sitting right on a lake, many people visit Mabank all year round, especially in the hot Texas summer months. If you're looking for a nice, laid-back town where you can cool off, book an RV in Mabank and relax.
A short drive in your Mabank RV rental will take you to the beach of Cedar Creek Reservoir. It's the closest place to cool off, so it's definitely worth a visit. You can take your boat out on the water, enjoy some fishing, and dive in for a swim. There's also plenty of room to sunbathe and lay out on the beach to relax. Texas can get pretty warm, so having such close access to the water is convenient. In addition to all of those fun activities, you can also visit the many different islands on the lake for some secluded peace and relaxation.
If you want more of a lively atmosphere on the water, head down to Corsicana in your motorhome rental from Mabank and take a dip in the Richland Chambers Reservoir. It's very similar to Cedar Creek Reservoir, but it has a much higher population in the area, which means more attractions. Many lakeside restaurants dot the surrounding beaches, walking trails weave in and out through the trees, and endless sunbathing opportunities await your arrival. If you're looking for the ultimate lakeside experience, the 50-mile drive is definitely worth it.
Rent an RV in Mabank and head east to Purtis Creek State Park to explore the beautiful hiking trails, bass fishing, and boating experiences. You can also go for a swim or bring your bicycle along for the ride. There are many different cycling trails, so you can choose what best fits your preference and get in a little bit of peaceful exercise. Purtis Creek is much more relaxed and secluded than the other two lakes, and it's also very family-friendly.
Just across the lake in Seven Points sits Lone Star RV Park. Drive your Mabank motorhome rental here for Wi-Fi, full hookups, and a dog-friendly park experience. There are also seven acres of open fields and trees to explore. It's right on the beach, so make sure you bring your swimsuit and sunscreen. Other amenities include a gas station, bathrooms, and laundry facilities.
Drive your RV rental from Mabank over to Kemp if you choose to visit Waterfront Lodge. It's right on the beachfront, so bring your bathing suit and fishing gear. There are a couple of piers for fishing, or you could also bring your boat. Kayaks and paddleboats are available for rent if you didn't bring yours along with you on the Mabank RV rental trip.
Only a few miles up the road will bring you to a golf course and country club. There's an 18-hole course, a tennis court, and dining most of the week. Happy hour and a relaxed lounging area might just make you want to kick off your boots and enjoy the scenery.
Llamas, monkey, and zebras, oh my! Head up to the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park to see those and all kinds of other exotic animals. There's also a gift shop for souvenirs, plus drinks and snacks if you forget something along the way. Many events and parties are always going on too.
