There is a small village south of Denver by the name of Louviers, with a peaceful, laid-back vibe and spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. The town was originally founded and built by the DuPont company to build dynamite factories. The name Louviers pays tribute to a city in France that is the ancestral home of the billionaire DuPont family. The town was heavily dependent on these operations for much of its existence until the 1960s, when the DuPont family relinquished control of the town to the local people, giving control of vital town services to newly formed town government bodies.

This small village might not be the place to look for trendy nightlife or five-star restaurants, but it sure is a nice place to rent an RV. When you book an RV in Louviers, the town's location lends itself to serving as a jumping off point for your vacation. The real stars of the show are the majestic Rocky Mountains that hover over the town in the west, constantly beckoning adventurous people to try their luck in the epic wilderness areas of the mountains. No matter what time of year it is, Louviers is a viable place to vacation.

Discover Louviers

Explore the Outdoors

Louviers is located on the edge of Colorado’s Front Range, where majestic mountains meet the great plains of middle America. Whether you head west in search of high mountain vistas and stunning hikes or south to see the desert landscapes with old Pueblo indigenous ruins, you are in for a treat when you rent an RV. Louviers is even fortunate enough to have several state parks within an hour's drive, such as Roxborough State Park. This state park is a great place to take your Louviers RV rental and see some stellar scenery. Roxborough State Park is known for its gorgeous red rock formations, the likes of which were designated a National Natural Landmark for their incredible beauty. The rock formations are said to be over 300 million years old, and there is a lovely visitor center at the park that explains the geology in great detail.

Chatfield State Park is also a few miles from Louviers and a swell place to end up at when you rent an RV. The most notable feature of this park is Chatfield Lake, a large reservoir that holds a whole host of summertime recreational activities. Swimming, fishing, and boating are popular ways to enjoy the park, and the campground is one of the best you could hope for when you bring your Louviers camper rental to the park. The Audubon Center located at the park is a fascinating institution with workshops, lectures, lessons, and exhibits concerning the wildlife, geology, and natural history of the region. Eleven Mile State Park is found farther from Louviers on the other side of the national forest land south of town. The park has its own large lake to speak of, with a marina, bicycle & hiking paths, and plenty of space to fish. There are over 300 campsites here for you and your Louviers motorhome rental to choose from.

Rocky Mountain National Park and Great Sand Dunes National Park are two of the Centennial State’s greatest parks, and both are within a few hours of Louviers. Great Sand Dunes National Park is a hair closer to the south. Epic sand dunes are the first thing that captivates visitors to the park, who have to double check to make sure they aren’t in the Sahara Desert. Hiking and backpacking are great ways to see the park, but sandboarding down the dunes is by far the most interesting way to enjoy the dunes. Camping is an option here as is the case with all national parks, so bring your Louviers camper rental for a few days.

RV Parks to Visit

When searching for a place to stay in your Louviers camper rental, the first two places that come to mind are Roxborough State Park and Chatfield State Park mentioned earlier. Both state parks are equipped with campgrounds that are easy to find, spacious, and full of hiking trails and swimming areas. Indian Creek Campground is found in Pike National Forest next to town and is one of the hundreds of campgrounds found in the national forest lands of Colorado. Buffalo Creek and Green Mountain Campgrounds are two other places in the thick of the pine forests high up in the mountains, where guests can enjoy the tranquility of nature when they rent an RV.

City Sightseeing

You might not be impressed with Louviers if you fancy yourself a city person, as it is much more suited to outdoor recreation. That being said, there are a few nearby places to check out if you have the time to do so. The Audubon Center mentioned before at the Chatfield State Park is a wonderful resource for people hoping to soak up more knowledge about the environment and how the Rocky Mountains were formed. The visitor center at Roxborough State Park is also a viable option, with pleasant, guided tours available for guests.

Cherokee Ranch & Castle is a massive landmark that has housed tycoons and wealthy families since it was built. After the last owner died in 1999, the house was placed in a trust to create a museum, with guided hikes, workshops, music performances, and much more. There more things to keep you occupied if you make the trip up to Denver or down to Colorado Springs. The Denver Botanical Gardens and the Denver Zoo are quite entertaining for day trips, as is the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater that overlooks the city. The amphitheater is carved into the mountainside red rock, making for an epic acoustic experience.
