Discover Loma Linda

The Great Outdoors

The San Bernardino National Forest is just a step away when you rent an RV in Loma Linda. The natural area offers a plethora of outdoor and recreational activities from hiking to scenic driving to winter sports. There are developed camping areas available in six of the parks' recreation areas and most areas connect to I-10. There are three mountain biking paths running through the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Recreation Area; Ramona Trail, Webster Trail, and Thomas Mountain Bike Trail. The Webster Trail offers the best views the San Jacinto Valleys. This section of the San Bernardino National Forest is packed full of hiking trails too, including the seven-mile Martinez Canyon Trail and the 2.5-mile Devils Slide Trail. The latter lead from Humber Park to Saddle Junction, from where San Jacinto Peak is accessible.

Split between the San Bernardino National Forest and the Mount Jacinto State Park is the San Jacinto Wilderness, an area that covers over 32,000 acres. This area is extremely varied and visitors can find dry terrain with boulder-filled canyons, as well as steep, pine tree-coated slopes, mountain plateaus, and a mixture of desert and alpine flora. The area is home to many migratory birds and there are approximately 48 miles of hiking trails plus a 28-mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail. Hikers can enjoy walking in a remote area with stunning panoramic views from 6,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level. The center of the wilderness areas even hosts two hair-raising rock-climbing areas, Suicide Rock and Lily Rock, with climbs of up to 1,000 feet.

Another great thing to do during your vacation with the motorhome rental in Loma Linda is to take the Aerial Tramway from Palm Springs into Mount San Jacinto State Park. The tramway stretches for over two and a half miles, passing above pristine pine forest with views to Chino Canyon and Mount Jacinto. The tramway boasts one of the largest rotating cars in the world so breathtaking views are plentiful. At the mountain station, 8,516 feet above sea level, visitors have the option of hiking in the wilderness area, joining challenging cross-country skiing routes or enjoying the panoramic views from the observation deck.
