Liverpool is a community in Brazoria County, Texas, that takes its name from Liverpool, England. It began in 1827 with the establishment of a trading post but did not informally become a community until 1834 when there were enough residents to call themselves a town. By 1836, the new town had enough children to justify hiring a teacher. The name Liverpool was tendered by a local man known as “Commodore” Nelson (whose title is debated) and the town had its first post office from 1846 to 1849. The post office re-opened in 1879 and remained in place until the 1990s; by 1914, the town had two stores and a hotel. Its population has always been relatively small, reaching around 400 in 1914 and slightly more than 600 by the 1980s.

Freeport started as a European-American community in 1912; its original population was only a few hundred, but the population had exploded by 1929 and continued to grow quickly until 1939. Fresno is situated on land that was once home to cotton plantations. Webster became home to Seito Saibara, a Japanese Christian theologian, and a group of Japanese Christian farmers around 1903; Saibara and the farmers created what would become the Gulf Coast rice industry, rice being an important cash crop at that time. Hitchcock started in 1873 as a railroad station between Galveston and Houston and became a produce shipping center around the beginning of the 20th century. The Great Outdoors

Brazos Bend State Park is a nature lover's paradise within a short distance of downtown Houston. Visitors can fish from the shoreline or one of the fishing piers, or explore one of the park trails on foot, bicycle, or horseback. There are picnic pavilions that can be reserved and the park is a great place to go geocaching; there are campsites and cabins where guests can stay overnight. The park has an observatory that is open on certain days and times, and a nature center and gift shop.

Bear Creek Pioneers Park is an urban park open from early morning to late evening, providing public recreation opportunities to local citizens and travelers. The park has a pavilion and a gazebo, a community center, playground and exercise area, and much more. Guests can go hiking and horseback riding on the park trails, observe the nature and wildlife, or play a round of horseshoes. There are restrooms, tennis courts, and sports fields for team sports. Park your Liverpool RV trailer rental close by, and you can rest in comfort between your outdoor activities.

Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1966 as a part of the National Wildlife Refuge System. Its purpose is to provide an important habitat to migratory birds heading both south and north, as well as other native mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Guests have the opportunity to hunt and fish, or participate in environmental education programs. There are nature trails for hiking, and some trails have boardwalks into otherwise inaccessible areas (guests are asked not to step off of the boardwalks in order to protect the plants and vegetation).

Exploring The City

There are a lot of things to do in Liverpool and the surrounding area. There are museums and historical churches, urban parks, and an arts and science center. One of the museums has a large supply of exhibits and a movie theater upstairs. There are several golf courses, an aerial adventure park, and an old sugar plantation turned tourist attraction; the plantation has markers explaining what the exhibits are. A local gift shop also sells flowers. Don't forget to take your Liverpool motorhome rental for a spin around the local highways. RV vacations are unique, not just a vehicle but an experience and one you don't want to miss.

When dinner time rolls around, Liverpool has a good selection of dining choices. One riverside seafood restaurant is situated near a riverboat and a bed and breakfast venue, which diners can also enjoy if they wish. The atmosphere is relaxing and charming, and the scenic grounds can be rented for special events. Diners eating here should try the Lobster Bisque. A local Asian restaurant serves authentic Thai food and has the capacity (and skill) to serve large groups without even blinking. Items can be ordered mild or spicy and come in big portions. Don't be embarrassed if you wind up taking your leftovers home to your Liverpool luxury RV rental for a late-night snack. Good food enjoyed under a star-filled sky is what RV vacations are all about.
