Along the banks of the mighty Tennessee River, just outside the city of Knoxville, is the tiny township of Lenoir City. Lenoir City is named for General William Lenoir, a famed general who fought in the Revolutionary War. Lenoir was rewarded for his service and given a 5,000-acre tract of land which is now home to the eponymous Lenoir City. Even in the early 20th century, there were very few people living in the area, but after the Tennessee Valley Authority was instructed to build a local dam and series of highways, lots of jobs were created and people began to move to Lenoir City.

These days, Lenoir City is a delightful river town out in the countryside. This rapidly growing community is starting to attract major retailers and restaurants, but retains its charm. Nearby Knoxville is a breeze to get to, and when you book an RV in Lenoir City, you can head up to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which brings lots of tourism to that particular corner of the state.
