Lebanon is a thriving Central Tennessee community that’s not far from Nashville. But in many ways, the town feels like it’s a million miles from anywhere. The numerous cedar trees in the area create a serene atmosphere that’s very different from the busyness of modern life. That calmness, along with the stunning scenery and tons of other things to do, attracts many visitors every year. Many of them book an RV in Lebanon, and so should you.

Discover Lebanon

Experience the Sites and Scenery

The thin soil in this area is ideal for cedar trees, and places like the Cedars of Lebanon State Park. It’s partly undeveloped wilderness and partly a state park with updated facilities, so the place offers something for everybody. Cedar trees aren’t the only living things that thrive here. The Park is home to over three hundred plant species, many of which are unique to this area. The red cedar, prickly pear cactus, and other plants are stunning when they’re in bloom. The developed part of the park includes over one hundred campsites, a swimming pool, meeting hall, and indoor lodge. Jackson Cave is pretty cool as well.

The Fall Creek Campground is not only a good place to keep your Lebanon rental RV, it’s also one of the top outdoor destinations in the region. The Campground is perched on the shores of Lake Cumberland, which is the largest artificial lake east of the Mississippi River. Expert and novice anglers alike usually go home with lots of bass, walleye, and crappie. The lake has a stunning 1,200-mile shoreline, so there are plenty of opportunities for water sports as well. Don’t forget the facilities for your Lebanon RV rental, such as pull-through full hookup sites and a dump station.

Bledsoe Creek State Park is just up the road near Gallatin. It’s primarily an aquatic park, since it’s on the banks of the Cumberland River. There are other attractions here as well, such as six miles of hiking trails and over fifty large campsites. There’s also a designated wildlife viewing area, where viewers can see and photograph whitetail deer, muskrats, bobcats, and foxes. You might even catch a glimpse of a golden hawk or a bald eagle.

The sprawling Edgar Evins State Park is a short drive away in DeKalb County. It’s home to a number of prehistoric archeological sites. The area was a notorious flood site until a dam finally controlled the river in 1938. Today, the Park is home to numerous hiking trails, a 300-slip marina, thirty-four cabins, numerous primitive campsites, and the remains of many 1940s-era homesteads.

City Attractions

The Wall of Honor is not nearly as impressive as something like the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. But it is an excellent example of an impromptu tribute to fallen heroes. Along with a hand-painted American flag and the names of deceased veterans, there’s also a touching poem from a local Vietnam War veteran. The Neddy Jacobs Cabin isn’t much bigger than a closet in many of today’s houses. It’s a nice reminder of the sacrifices that those early pioneers made, and also of how their efforts paved the way for the life we live today. In something of a commentary on modern life, there’s a fast-food restaurant directly across the street. Finally, although it’s closed now, visitors should drive their Lebanon motorhome rentals by the very first Cracker Barrel.

What’s Unique

Life in Central Tennessee has not always been easy. The aforementioned frequent floods were just part of the hardship that these people endured. Through it all, they persevered and carved a very nice place for you to explore with your Lebanon RV rental. This part of Tennessee is big enough to explore in your RV yet small enough to have that intimate feeling, so it’s a nice place to spend a few days, a few months, or any amount of time in between.

Where to Park It

The Nashville East KOA Journey is one of the best places to keep your Lebanon rental RV. It has a number of full hookup sites in addition to campgrounds, cabins, and a large swimming pool. Visitors may also like Nashville’s Safe Harbor RV Resort. Its 131 spaces are located on a peninsula that juts out into Percy Priest Lake. So, the Resort is very scenic and also offers many amenities, including a private beach. As an added bonus, it’s close to many Nashville attractions, including the Grand Ole Opry.

The Food

Fresh fish is a staple in this area, as is the venerable Meat and Three (meat dish and three sides). Don’t forget the sweet potato fries, fried pickles, and of course, the banana pudding.

Now that you know a little more about what Lebanon has to offer, start planning your RV excursion today.
