Originally a frontier post, Lancaster was officially established as a town in 1853. One of the more notable events in this town was when Bonnie and Clyde’s gang robbed the R.P. Henry and Sons Bank in 1934. Known as the “Shining Star of Texas,” Lancaster is a fast-growing community, bolstered by its transformation from a farming town to a bedroom community of Dallas.

The closest large town is Dallas, about 20 miles to the north. Arlington, which is where Six Flags over Texas is located, is 30 miles to the northwest. Fort Worth, Dallas’ “sister city” is 12 miles past Arlington (roughly 45 miles altogether).
