Kingston is nestled in the northwest of Georgia near the border of both Tennessee and Alabama. The city is also within easy reach of the state capital of Atlanta, which you can drive to in under two hours.
Native American tribes lived on the area that surrounds Kingston until the 1830s, and following its formation, the city of Kingston took its name from United States Senator, John Pendleton King. The area had witnessed plenty of action during the American Civil War, in particular, the Great Locomotive Chase led by James J. Andrews, in which the Union Army attempted to carry out a raid on the Western and Atlantic Railroad.
Forming part of Bartow County, the city is a particularly great starting point in your motorhome rental from Kingston if you plan to pick up the Georgia State Route 293, that passes through the city on its way from Emerson down to Rome.
