Because of its strategic location, Johns Island had seen plenty of history, all the way back to the Kiawah, the native inhabitants of the area. It was also occupied during the colonial era, and saw some action during the American Revolution and the Civil War. When you're in town in early or mid-April, try to catch the re-enactment of the Battle of Charleston at Legare Farms.
