About 40 miles to the east of Holiday is the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve, which is located near Thonotosassa. Visitors are encouraged to canoe or kayak through the rivers or hike along the 60 miles of trails that exist within the boundaries to better explore the beauty of the preserve.

If you are looking to get up close and personal with some of those infamous Floridian swamps, then look to Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve, which is located about 60 miles to the east near Dade City.
