Harper is a small town, about two hours' drive west of Austin and two hours northwest of San Antonio in Texas. If you want to visit the Gulf of Mexico, it takes approximately three hours' drive to reach Corpus Christi, which is one of the closest cities on the shore. Harper was settled in 1863 by Eli McDonald and Matthew Taylor. The post office was established in 1883 by George Franklin Harper, for whom the town was named. The mission of the museum is to preserve, interpret, and honor the history of the Pacific War.
The Hill Country Arts Foundation is located a short drive south of Harper. It features a visual art center, theater, Stonehenge II, and an art fair. This unique place was founded in the middle of the 20th century by artists of this part of Texas. Here you can see many different exhibits and shows, as well as a miniature Stonehenge formation, or join workshops and art classes for all ages.
