In Lehigh, Dolliver Memorial State Park spreads across 594 acres and boasts high bluffs and deep ravines along the Des Moines River. There are opportunities for hiking, boating, and fishing, with playgrounds, chances for wildlife viewing, a day-use lodge, an amphitheater, and picnic shelters too. There’s also a campground with partial hookups, a comfort station, and a dump station, which can accommodate your travel trailer rental from Fort Dodge.

Kennedy Park is a popular 400-acre nature area to visit when you book a camper rental in Fort Dodge. The park features hiking trails and the 53-acre Badger Lake for fishing and swimming. Not your traditional RV park, Gypsum City OHV Park sits on 800 acres and includes more than 60 miles of trails for use by ATVs, off-road motorcycles, and other off-highway vehicles. The main attractions here are the ATV trails, and the park also has a 1.5-mile motocross track, a half-mile kids’ track, and a beginner circle track. Trails run through heavily-wooded areas, across water, and through mudding areas. The campsites are available in full and partial hookups, and each has a picnic table and a grill. There are also restrooms with warm showers.

Another more traditional RV park in Rockwell City is Rockwell City Iowa RV Park. A smaller RV park in the heart of town, here there are 15 full hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service. The only on-site amenity is a restroom with showers. However, within two blocks, there are tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, a kids’ playground, a park with walking trails, and city fairgrounds.

Exploring the City

Blanden Memorial Art Museum is a world-class museum located a few blocks from the banks of the Des Moines River. The museum houses a permanent collection of European and American sculptures, photographs, and paintings. There are also collections of contemporary American art, local Iowa artists, and Japanese screens and prints. In addition to permanent exhibits, new and exciting temporary exhibits regularly make an appearance. After perusing the items, visit the museum store for unique silk scarves, ceramics, notecards, prints, and more.
