Falls City is a community in Karnes County, in the state of Texas. It began as a train depot in 1886 named Brackenridge (after a railroad benefactor); two earlier communities had failed to establish themselves, but the arrival of the railroad heralded Falls City's success. A post office titled Skiles was opened west of the depot the following year, and in late 1893, the post office was relocated closer to the train tracks and combined with Brackenridge as the new community of Falls City. Its name was chosen due to the proximity of several nearby waterfalls.

Search for an RV in Karnes County, and you can choose from a wide variety of RV makes and models for the unit that will perfectly match your vacation needs. While in the vicinity, you should make some time to experience some of the neighboring communities. Stockdale has, amongst other celebrations, an annual watermelon jubilee. Pleasanton has a Mr. Cowboy sculpture in front of city hall and an annual event, the Cowboy Homecoming, that began in 1966. Devine has a sign at its entrance that reads “Small City, Big Heart, Great Future.” Your Falls City travel trailer rental is how you will experience this scenic area in comfort.

Discover Falls City

The Great Outdoors

Atascosa River Park is a cultivated recreational park in Pleasanton with basketball and tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields, and a Tivoli-like atmosphere. There is a playground for younger children and a rodeo ground and pavilion to remind everyone that this is Texas. It has an annual Cowboy Homecoming Days festival with attractions like Cow-Pie Bingo. It is a popular destination with tourists, some of whom gather on the river banks in the evenings to sing “Old Man River" to the departing riverboats.

Joe Gulley Park is a cultivated park in Kenedy with a playground, a WWII veterans memorial, and lots of space and picnic tables where visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery. There are walking trails with an easy elevation, lots of tree cover, and a pavilion for those who might need to take a break from the sun. The park is an ideal place to take photos.

Choke Canyon State Park is located on the south shore of Choke Canyon Reservoir which provides water to the citizens of Corpus Christi. The Choke Canyon is an important archeological site with much evidence of the indigenous cultures that once resided there. Today it is a popular public recreation area where visitors can camp and go swimming, fish, geocache, and enjoy many other activities. The campsites vary, some having water and electricity and some being hike-in (primitive) sites. Cabins are also available for rent. Those wanting to fish can take a boat onto the reservoir or fish from the shoreline.

Exploring The City

Those who are interested in history should begin their Falls City camper rental trip by visiting nearby Helena, which was once the county seat of Karnes County but has since become a ghost town. Many of the old houses and structures still contain their original furniture, and tour guides can show visitors around while detailing the history of the location. There is a multi-generational working ranch in nearby Karnes City, with cattle and horses. There are a multitude of trails on the ranch property, and guests can take one of the horses on a ride on the trails. Falls City itself is the perfect size to take a walking tour and observe the structure and layout of the city or take a leisurely stroll along the San Antonio River (or both). The cafe is open for lunch and dinner, and guests can have their leftovers wrapped up; nothing says “vacation” like taking your doggy bag back to your Falls City luxury RV rental for a midnight snack. Great food enjoyed under a Texan sky is what it's all about.
