Dallas is a town in Barron County, Wisconsin, that also contains within its borders the village of Dallas. The village was named after the 11th Vice President of the U.S., George Mifflin Dallas. It is a family and community-oriented village with rolling hills, wooded areas, and open fields on the outskirts of town. Days and weekends will find residents enjoying sports and social events in the village's Old Mill Pond park; evenings in Dallas typically end with picturesque sunsets settling down at the end of Dallas' long quiet streets.

Book an RV in Barron County, and you will have your choice from amongst a selection of RV makes and models perfectly suited to a Wisconsin vacation. While you're here, you should consider checking out some other nearby towns. Cumberland is nicknamed “the island city” due to its central part being surrounded by Beaver Dam Lake. Bruce began as a railroad town managed by the principal officers of the Minneapolis, Sault Ste. Marie and Atlantic Railway. Chippewa Falls is the host of the Cray Research headquarters and the birthplace of Cray Research's founder, Seymour Cray (the father of supercomputing). New Richmond and the surrounding area was first settled by immigrants from Vermont looking for forests to harvest. Your Dallas RV rental is your invitation to explore this unique and historic area.

The Great Outdoors

Otter Creek Oak Barrens State Natural Area was created in 1990 and is dominated by rolling hills and stands of oak tree species such as bur, black, and white oak; Jack pine and trembling aspen can be found, and there are red maple tree stands on some north facing hills. Fishing, hunting, and trapping are allowable activities, as are hiking and cross-country skiing in the winter; some activities are not allowed, visitors should check with the park administration (Wisconsin DNR) for more information. Park your Dallas camper rental nearby, and you can enjoy a hot meal between outdoor activities.

Cylon State Wildlife Area was established in 1975 to restore temporary and seasonal wetlands which have been affected by industry and urbanization throughout the state. The park consists of upland and lowland hardwood tree stands, grasslands, sedge meadows, and open water wetlands. A river and stream flow through the area and visitors can canoe or kayak on these water bodies. Birding and wildlife viewing are popular activities, as are hiking in the summer and snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. Hunting, fishing, and trapping are allowed.

Loon Lake Wildlife Area is a combined wildlife refuge and outdoor recreation area where visitors can hike, fish, and hunt. The refuge was created in the 1960s and consists of lowland brush, grass fields, and other vegetation. Visitors can enjoy the tree stands of oak, maple, and aspen while viewing the bird and mammal species that reside here. Foraging for mushrooms, berries, and other edibles is allowed, but the park management asks that other plant species be left undisturbed. There are pothole lakes, waterfowl flowages, and a river that divides the area; guests can fish and hunt. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are allowed in the winter.

Wisconsin is known for its great cheeses; it is also the birthplace of the ice cream sundae, so a good way to begin exploring the city is with a walking tour of the downtown area taking in all of the small confectionaries and any other stores you happen to come across. Dallas also has an active amateur sports scene, and visitors are sure to find some type of contest underway during their stay.

Driving an RV is an experience and is something you will want to try at least once (but be warned: it can be addictive).

There are a number of restaurants in or near Dallas, and most of these are locally owned. One popular diner cafe is a restaurant, butcher shop, and bakery; it serves both American and German cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch, and brunch on the weekends. The food items are fresh and homemade, including the jams that accompany the meals. Guests eating here should try the Black Forest Omelette; be sure to grab some of the breakfast sausage (from the butcher's fridge) to take back home to your Dallas luxury RV rental to prepare yourself later on.
