Around 1848, pioneers and settlers started farming and ranching around what would become Crowley. When the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway laid down track, they also built a train depot, and the town of Crowley formed around it. This quiet suburban town is an ideal central spot for exploring the ranch lands and lakes south of Fort Worth and Dallas, as well as the cities themselves.

The closest large town is Fort Worth, about 15 miles to the north. Arlington is just under 30 miles to the northeast. Dallas, Ft. Worth’s “sister city,” is just 20 miles past Arlington.

Discover Crowley

The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV in Crowley, you’ll want to venture out to visit some of the remaining pockets of wilderness in the area for fresh air and fun in the sun.

Benbrook Lake, a large lake southwest of Fort Worth, offers up a variety of activities, including hiking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, and windsurfing. White bass, hybrid white/striped bass, crappie, channel, and flathead catfish, sunfish, carp, and buffalo are abundant in the lake. There are public boat launches and a marina.

The Trinity Trails form a spiderweb of multi-use paths and trails throughout the city of Fort Worth. Some of the 70 miles of trails share routes with streets and sidewalks, but much of it is ideal for horseback riding and biking. There are also kayak launches at various points around the city.

The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is a natural area comprised of forests, prairies, and wetlands allowing you to step back in time and experience what Fort Worth was like 100 years ago. The park covers 3,621 acres and includes over 20 miles of hiking trails. There is a small bison herd in the refuge, and the nature center has an array of amphibians and reptiles on exhibit. There are kayak and canoe launches as well. Portions of the park’s trails are pet-friendly.

For a more rustic option and easy access to the Benbrook Lake, Bear Creek Campgrounds has full RV hookups and showers. However, this campground is closed in winter. There are also a couple of other parks on the lake that allow RV camping.

There are a handful of Walmarts within a 10-mile radius, including one right in Crowley’s township, and camping may be allowed here. Be sure to ask for permission from management before setting up for the night.
