The city of Cranston is located in Providence County, Rhode Island, just under four miles from the Providence River and 10 miles from Warwick. It’s part of the metropolitan area of Providence. While the city itself is fairly built up, the surrounding area is brimming with recreational activities which are tucked away inside of gorgeous national forests and pleasing state parks. Along Highway 10, Cranston is easy to reach with one of the many RV rentals in Providence County. The city sits between Interstate 95 and Interstate 295, only six miles from Rhode Island’s state capital.

The Great Outdoors

The first place to take your motorhome rental near Cranston is the Pachuag State Forest. It encompasses a total of six towns and covers an area of nearly 27,000 acres which is split into two main areas; the Chapman Area and the Green Falls Area. In both areas, there are many miles of drivable roads as well as numerous trails which are suitable for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and motorbiking. The Chapman Area hosts a 58-mile motorbike trail which traverses the forest on public roads and woodland tracks. Popular hikes in The Green Falls Area are the Narragansett and Green Falls trails, plus the Nehantic and Pachuag trails which cover both areas of the state forest. There are swimming and boating facilities available in the Green Falls Area at Voluntown.

Snake Den State Park is just 11 miles from Cranston, in Johnston, and is an excellent spot for all the family to visit. The 1,000 acres of land which surround the property offers pleasant walks in charming gardens. The park sits next door to Dame Farm which is fully operational. White Mountain National Forest has three main driving routes. Weeks Act Legacy Driving Tour makes a 100-mile loop of the White Mountains region, stopping at 40 points of interest. Other popular routes with breathtaking views include the White Mountain Trail and the Kancamagus Scenic Byway.

RV Parks

Although there aren’t many RV parks located in Cranston you can find comfortable places to park your RV rental near Cranston without driving into the wilderness. Ginny B Campground is about 20 miles out of town and offers sites with electricity and water. Restroom and shower facilities are on site and there is a golf course nearby.

Hickory Ridge Campground is a 30-minute drive west of Cranston and offers sites with full hookups. The park features a pond, a variety of campsite settings, restrooms, and a swimming pool.

Brialee RV & Tent Park is about 50 miles west near Ashford. This is a family-friendly camping area with an on-site freshwater beach, swimming pool, mini golf course, a splash pad, and many activities for both kids and adults. The campground is also pet-friendly and even has its own pet beach.

Old Holbrooke Place offers family camping spot in Sutton, 15 miles south of Worcester. The campground is small and clean with direct access to Manchaug Pond. It’s the perfect place to relax on your RV rental vacation in Province County.
