Crane is the county seat of Crane County, Texas and was established sometime between 1908 and 1926, when the discovery of oil brought enough fortune seekers to create a town. It has the only post office in the county, and although the population has wavered over the years, it is still the center of the oil industry service trade for its area. Crane has a museum dedicated to the area's history, the Museum of the Desert Southwest, and has been home to several notable people.

RV rentals in Crane County are your best bet for finding the RV make and model that best suits your vacation needs. Guests who want to make the most of this adventure should check out some other nearby communities while they have the chance. Odessa has one of the region's largest orchestras, the Midland–Odessa Symphony and Chorale. Rankin is the site of the World Championship Barbados Cook-Off, held annually during Memorial Day weekend. Monahans is located in the middle of what is known as “The Permian Basin;” this area was once an ocean teeming with aquatic life. Your Crane travel trailer rental is all you will need as you explore and experience this colorful area.

Discover Crane

The Great Outdoors

San Angelo State Park is a little distant from Crane but would make an excellent day trip and is worth the effort. It is an ideal location for wildlife viewing, geocaching, swimming, and much more. The landscape consists of high plains and rolling plains, hills and arid prairie desert, plus river beds and marsh, creating a diverse habitat and wildlife community that visitors can hike through. Archeologists examining the park have found evidence of Spanish exploration from the 16th and 17th centuries, Native American life dating back 18,000 years, and giant Ice Age mammals.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park has a diverse array of plant life, an extensive fossil reef, and so much more for visitors to see. Park staff conduct special programs and events and lead guided hikes. Visitors are welcome to hike, backpack, and camp; there are breathtaking vistas, sunsets, and nighttime skies that guests would have to see to believe. Bring your Crane camper rental, and you can spend the night, getting the full experience of this unique area.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is slightly across the border in New Mexico but once again, is worth the trip and extra effort to get there. The area is full of deep rocky canyons, high ledges, and flowering cactus, but underneath it all and what isn't immediately visible are a system of caves carved out of limestone. This is a great destination for photographers, both above ground and below, and for wildlife observers who can attempt to spot the area's residents.

RV Parks

There are a number of RV parks and campgrounds near Crane, and even more slightly farther out, and some of them may have mobile homes or long-term guests. Your Crane RV trailer rental is all you will need to guarantee a relaxing and comfortable vacation in this part of Texas.

Palms of Paradise RV Park is a cultivated RV campground with paved roads and site pads. There is a playground for young children, and the park is pet-friendly; it also has a recreation center with an outdoor patio and big screen TV inside. All of the sites have pull-through access and full hookups.

Exploring The City

There are some interesting things to do in Crane and the surrounding area. History enthusiasts might want to check out a memorial to the “American Sniper” Chris Kyle or a replica of the Stonehenge site which is about two-thirds the size of the original but still impressive. Pen and paper history buffs should check out the Presidential Archives and Leadership Library which was a response to the assassination of John F. Kennedy and has grown into a thorough study of the office itself instead of just the men who have held that office. There are a few playhouse theaters, an art museum, and an outdoor amusement park. While you are here, remember to take your Crane motorhome rental for a spin around the countryside.

Crane has a number of interesting places to eat, and most are locally owned and operated. One local drive-in has a good atmosphere. All of the ingredients are fresh, and the food is cooked to order (not frozen and prepackaged); the venue has a simple menu, but the food is great, and the portions are large. Diners can eat in or ask for takeout and head back to the Crane luxury RV rental to dine out under the stars.
