Perched on the east bank of the Red River, Coushatta is a small town and seat of the Red River Parish. It was built on cotton cultivation, with plantations once dotting the landscape, and experienced significant unrest following the Civil War during the Reconstruction era of the United States.

Today, Coushatta is a sleepy town that provides an idyllic place to rent an RV for those wanting to get away from it all. It’s within proximity to wildlife refuges and the Kisatchie National Forest while being just 45 miles from the bustling city of Shreveport, and Bossier City.
