The two railroads which crossed over each other at city center made Corinth one of the most strategic transportation hubs fought over by both the Union and Confederate armies.

Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center commemorates one of the most important events in Corinth’s history, the Battle of Corinth, and also the Battle of Shiloh and the Civil War in Mississippi. Here, you can see many different exhibits, events, and join educational programs related to the Civil War.

Black History Museum of Corinth tells the story of black history in Corinth and the surrounding area and preserves and promotes African American heritage. Exhibits include religion, education, and civil rights displays, in addition to personal collections of patrons. Another location connected to African American history in the city is the Corinth Contraband Camp. This was the refugee camp that was established by Union General Grenville M. Dodge, and it featured numerous homes, a church, a school, and a hospital.
