Concord is a town in Pike County, Georgia. It was incorporated in 1887 by the Georgia General Assembly and took its name from a church on the site that had been built in the 1840s. The county was created from a section of Monroe County in 1822. The town's atmosphere is simple and relaxing as if visitors have stepped back in time. It has an annual fall photography festival where artists from all over the world submit their photos of the American south. It is also known as the place where former president Franklin D. Roosevelt came in the hopes of improving his polio-stricken legs in the town's warm spring water.

Book an RV in Pike County and you are guaranteed a relaxing vacation in an RV perfectly matched to its home environment. There are other towns and cities that are interesting and worth checking out. Griffin has been a shooting location in several notable tv shows and movies. Barnesville once had the nickname “Buggy Capital of the South” for its high volume of buggy production (around 9,000 units a year at the turn of the 20th century). Roberta was a rapidly growing tourist town in the early 20th century but today is a sleepy small town. Manchester (dubbed as “Delano”) is the fictional setting in a number of novels by author Stuart Woods. Greenville was home to one of the original members of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Hiram Warner. Your Concord travel trailer rental is your invitation to explore all of these places.

The Great Outdoors

Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge allows wildlife viewing and bird watching, hiking, photography, and more. Through conservation efforts, it has been restored from a deforested area to a forest of pines and hardwoods. Some of the native species include the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker and bobcats. Hunting and fishing are allowed with the appropriate licenses; visitors can also involve themselves as volunteers to learn more about the refuge and what it does.

Oconee National Forest is a popular destination for hiking, biking, and horseback riding; camping is also allowed, as is fishing and hunting (licenses are required, and hunting is permitted seasonally). The park has visitor centers with exhibits and knowledgeable staff; the park is a good destination for bird and wildlife viewing, nature appreciation, and photography. Park your Concord RV trailer rental, and you can enjoy a hot coffee and snacks between activities.

Chattahoochee National Forest is a wildlife preserve with hundreds of acres of undisturbed nature, miles and miles of rivers, streams and forest trails, and much more. It is a part of the greater Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests and is protected by the USDA Forest Service. Visitors may be required to request a pass depending on their intended activity or destination and can get more information from the nearest Ranger District Office.

One of the closest options is the Atlanta South RV Resort. It's a cultivated RV campground with restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Exploring The City

There are a lot of things to do in and around Concord. Shoppers will appreciate the malls and farmers' markets, while the kids will thrill over the playland dressed up as a miniature castle environment. There are theaters and museums, and one outdoor pavilion is a popular scene for summer concerts. There is also a water park with slides and much more for those days when everyone will need to escape the heat. Remember to take your Concord motorhome rental for a spin around the countryside before you return the keys.

There are a number of restaurants near Concord; some may be slightly farther out. One cafe has a selection of both healthy and comfort food, so everyone should be able to find something they like. This venue has a lunch buffet with a variety of meats, salads, and sides, but customers can order from the menu if they choose. A Chinese restaurant offers American-style Chinese food with fresh ingredients and in large portions. It is Chinese tradition to order several individual entrees and share them amongst the group; there will probably be leftovers but don't be embarrassed about asking for a doggie bag. This is the best part of being on vacation, having a delicious late-night snack in your Concord luxury RV rental under a star-filled sky.
