Thanks to Churchville’s location between Bel Air, Aberdeen, and Havre de Grace, it is affectionately known as the Crossroads of Harford County. When you book an RV in Churchville you’ll have easy access to all of these small towns in addition to the metropolises of Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Each of the big cities is connected to Churchville via train, which is the best way to reach them if you hope to avoid the challenges associated with urban traffic and finding parking availability for the Churchville camper rental. Amtrak and the MARC Penn train (which runs from nearby Perryville to Washington D.C.) are both excellent transportation options for taking a day trip into the city.

Discover Churchville

The Great Outdoors

The Havre de Grace Promenade is a pleasant spot to relax if you’d like some fresh air but don’t want to drive too far from town. Its wooden boardwalk has excellent views of the Chesapeake Bay and it’s located next to the historic Concord Point Lighthouse, which has a small museum attached to it in the lightkeepers' quarters. On a hot day though, you can cool off at Conowingo Reservoir; rent a kayak from one of the sporting goods stores nearby and spend the day paddling around the picturesque lake when you get a travel trailer rental in Churchville.

Another great place to spend some time in nature is at Susquehanna State Park just upriver from the Chesapeake Bay. The park is relatively small, but it does have a couple of longer hiker trails, one of which reaches up along the shore to Conowingo Fisherman’s Park. There are also a few historical sites within the park’s borders including the Jersey Toll House, Rock Run Gristmill, and Carter-Archer Mansion – all of which date back to the colonial period.

For a fun day out with the family, you might also enjoy a round of mini golf or perhaps you could take them to Ripken Park to watch the IronBirds play some innings when you get a camper rental from Churchville. It’s not quite the same as a seeing a professional game in the city, but the action can be as exciting and a bag of popcorn tastes just as good here.

RV Parks near Churchville

Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina is one of the closest parks to Churchville and offers a swimming pool, full hookups, a small grocery store, and a playground for the little ones. If you’re looking for a family-friendly place to stay, Bar Harbor could be a decent choice. A little farther away is the Woodlands Camping Resort in Elkton. They have a swimming pool, a basketball court, full hookups, and some short hiking trails into the surrounding woodlands.

Military personnel getting an RV rental in Churchville can camp at Skipper’s Point Campground to the south of town. It’s on the Chesapeake Bay and offers scenic views of the area. There are also Walmarts in both Aberdeen and Abingdon where you might be able to stay for a few nights with a manager’s permission. The parking lots will be bare bones when it comes to amenities, so make sure you top up your tanks and come prepared to be self-sufficient. There are some truck stops along I-95 where you can use the dump station while fueling up.

Exploring the Town of Churchville

While Churchville does sit at the crossroads of northeastern Maryland, there aren't many attractions in the town itself. Fortunately, the state’s small size and Churchville’s proximity to Interstate 95 means it never takes too long to get anywhere when you rent an RV here.

Whether you prefer a strong IPA or a crisp chardonnay, you won’t be disappointed with coastal Maryland. It’s home to quite a few good breweries and vineyards; you can even design your own tour of the region to have a tasting at each of them. If you love a good shopping trip though, step in the nearby Harford Mall to spend a few hours browsing its many designer stores. There’s also a group of larger chain stores just off the main interchange on I-95.

While there are always an interesting little museum or two in small towns, the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum might be in a class of its own. It's a collection consisting solely of artfully designed duck decoys, and while most duck hunters will use basic plastic specimens to lure in their targets, these pieces are hand painted works of art.

However, if you’re interested in learning about farming techniques in this rural corner of Maryland, check out the Steppingstone Farm Museum in Susquehanna State Park. They have some excellent demonstrations showing traditional methods that will definitely give you a new appreciation for the people living a couple centuries ago.
