Known as the “Richest Square Mile on Earth”, Central City is a charming town on the precipice of the Denver metro area, cradled by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to the west. It derives its nickname from the Pikes Peak Gold Rush of 1859 when 10,000 prospectors poured into the small area to make a living on the veins of gold that were constantly being discovered.

By the time the Great Depression rolled around, these veins were nearly exhausted causing a mass exodus of people from town to other locations. This old Wild West outpost once again existed as a town frozen in time, with lots of historical buildings. In its present-day incarnation, Central City has been reinvented as a casino town that is popular with folks from Denver and the rest of Colorado. Still not quite a city, this town has found a new niche that has once again made it prosperous. When you book an RV in Central City, you are free to explore the city to the east and the vast mountain wildernesses to the west, making the town a one-of-a-kind adventure destination with maximum flexibility.
