Warner Springs is an unincorporated town in San Diego County, California. It was established in 1844 when Juan Jose Warner received a land grant (Rancho San Jose del Valle) from Mexico and promptly renamed it Warner Springs. It has an association with the Oak Grove Butterfield Stage Station and Warner’s Ranch, two National Historic Landmarks, and is not far from the Palomar Observatory. It is most well-known for its hot springs, which have attracted people from the very beginning and became a favorite Hollywood hangout during Hollywood's golden era. At first approach, Warner Springs doesn't appear to be anything more than just another small desert town but once inside, its appeal is instantly recognizable.

Book an RV in San Diego County and you are well equipped for whatever adventures come your way. There are some other cities and towns that could prove interesting and add to your vacation. Borrego Springs began in the early 1900s and by the 1950s was host to a PGA Pro-Am Tournament. There is a rumor that Julian almost became the county seat for San Diego County (but not quite). One of Santee's first buildings, completed in 1913, has been a fire truck garage, a storage warehouse, and a museum (it still stands today). Escondido is Spanish for “hidden” and was so-named because it is located in a secluded valley. Temecula's popularity is due to its mild climate and rolling hills. Your Warner Springs motorhome rental is your ticket to seeing all of these places and more.

The Great Outdoors

Palomar Mountain State Park is high up on the west side of Palomar Mountain in northern San Diego County. The park is largely covered with coniferous forests consisting of large pine, fir, and cedar tree stands. Evenings are cool even in the summer due to the elevation, so hikers planning to camp overnight should dress appropriately. A number of spots within the park have panoramic views westward towards the ocean and eastward towards the desert.

Cleveland National Forest is a partially developed national park open to the public for recreational activities. Hiking is a popular activity in the park and trails are well marked with fence posts and clear paths. Biking and horseback riding are also popular activities, and guests are allowed to camp overnight. Some cabins are available for use. The park is also available for fishing and hunting when in season; hunting licenses are required.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is California's largest state park, situated in the state's southeastern corner. Hiking through the park is popular and guests will have an endless supply of items to photograph. The terrain can be rough at times, so proper hiking shoes are important as well as water. Temperatures in the desert park can climb as high as 125 degrees. The park is crisscrossed by a number of highways running through the middle and this is your chance to really put your Warner Springs RV trailer rental to good use. Wildlife on hand includes bighorn sheep, mountain lions, and coyotes; wildflowers also grow randomly and your Warner Springs RV rental is a perfect blind to capture these images from.

RV Parks

There are quite a few RV parks and campgrounds near Warner Springs. Amenities are few due to the location being in the high desert but a Warner Springs camper rental is the perfect accompaniment to providing you with everything you need on your vacation.

Oak Grove Campground is a High Desert park with few amenities, but it does have water spigots generously located around the campground. Individual sites have asphalt pads and there are public restrooms available. The campground is near the Palomar Mountains and coyotes can be heard in the distance for a brief time around dusk.

La Jolla Indian Campground is an RV park near a river, with paved roads for biking. There are some tent camping sites along the river and restrooms within the park. Nearby activities include a zip line course.

Exploring The City

There is an amazing amount of things to do in Warner Springs, some of them very unique in their own way. Visitors to this city can try their hand at flying a sailplane (a motorless glider). There are local bars and wineries where you can take a few minutes to relax from your itinerary. There is an active mine where visitors can learn about the different geological formations that exist in the desert.

When it's time for dinner, Warner Springs can answer that call as well. One ranch-themed restaurant offers a menu with soups and salads, hamburgers, and anything else you might want. The restaurant has a view of a nearby lake.

Of course, it wouldn't be a vacation without making at least one home-cooked meal in your Warner Springs luxury RV rental. Restaurant dining is always fun but no one knows your culinary preferences better than you. Imagine a delicious meal enjoyed under the stars of a desert sky, and it will appear.
