Cabazon is a census-designated area in Riverside County, California, between San Gorgonio Mountain and San Bernardino National Forest. It first appeared as a depot on the San Gorgonio pass railway line and was named after a popular local Indian chief. For many years, the area has existed as farmland for the production of fruits and vegetables, such as olives, peaches, and apricots. Water redirected to the area has been under the control of the railroad. Some housing has been developed but the area is mostly undeveloped and the town has a post office.

Visitors to this area will enjoy the calm undisturbed environment and the chance to get back to nature the moment you step out of your front door. RV rentals in Riverside County are perfectly matched to this outdoor environment. A Cabazon RV rental is the ideal vehicle for exploring Riverside County and there are numerous cities that beckon you. Yucca Valley is one of the gateways to the Joshua Tree National Park. Palm Springs and the surrounding desert were the training grounds for World War II soldiers preparing to serve on the African continent. Palm Desert's official tree is the desert willow; its official bird is the mourning dove. Julian is unique from other Southern Californian cities due to its cold winters and resulting ability to grow apples; it holds an Apple Festival in October and bakes 10,000 apple pies a week for the entire month. Escondido is Spanish for "hidden"; some people say it is because the city is a hidden jewel among the surrounding foothills, but others claim the city was originally named Agua Escondido (meaning “hidden water”).

The Great Outdoors

San Gorgonio Mountain is a recreation area boasting rocky hillsides with tundra flowers and foliage and evergreen tree stands. Hiking to the summit, you will find yourself above the clouds, witnessing impressive sunsets and sunrises (overnight camping is permitted). It is a difficult hike and the ground near the summit can be icy, so proper footgear and water is recommended.

Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a desert oasis and wildlife habitat at the northwestern tip of the Joshua Tree National Park. This cottonwood and willow riparian habitat lies in both the Mojave Desert (upstream) and the Colorado Desert (downstream). The preserve is a wonderful place to walk, hike, and observe nature along numerous trails; one of them is a wheelchair accessible boardwalk navigating the marsh and riparian habitats. Expect to see a wide variety of plant and animal life, from mule deer and bighorn sheep to kangaroo rats and more. A variety of reptile life calls the preserve home, such as rosy boas and California tree frogs. Your Cabazon camper rental is the photography blind you'll need to see without being seen.

Coachella Valley Preserve, also known as Thousand Palms Oasis Preserve, is a desert wilderness environment where visitors can hike and picnic. As the name suggests, the park is populated with palm trees and other vegetation. It has miles upon miles of hiking trails, ponds, and oases. The Palm House, a 1930's log cabin, is a rustic visitor's center, where visitors can ask questions or participate in a guided hike. The reserve is home to a multitude of reptile, mammal and bird species, making wildlife observation yet another fun activity.

RV Parks

There are quite a few RV campgrounds in or near Cabazon offering accommodation. Some have restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, and camp stores. A few have long-term rentals but all of them rent by the day and the week. A Cabazon RV trailer rental is a perfect match for any of them, providing you with a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

Banning Stagecoach KOA has asphalt roads inside the park as well as some trees providing a bit of shade. The park is child and pet-friendly, with a playground for them and a swimming pool for everyone. Individual sites have big rig and pull-through access, full hookups, and gravel pads. Wi-Fi and propane are available. There are some tent camping spots.

Idyllwild RV Resort is a mountainside park, situated in the midst of a wooded area. As such, it is a good place to enjoy bird watching and the recreational trails where you can walk or hike. Campground staff occasionally host group activities for their guests, but you can also relax by the swimming pool or enjoy activities in the clubhouse. Children and pets are welcome and there is a picnic and barbecue area for families to enjoy. Individual sites have big rig and pull-through access and Wi-Fi. Some of the sites have full hookups and there is a dump station for those that don't.

Exploring The City

Cabazon is a good city to see and do things in. Extreme adventure enthusiasts won't want to miss jumping out of a plane (with a parachute, that is); skydiving is just one of the activities on hand. Less adventurous types will be interested in a landmark devoted to the dinosaurs that existed here. The city is a good destination for shopping for clothes and other items with factory outlets offering their wares without the middleman (and associated markup price). Museums and a casino also invite you to come and visit; if the weather isn't cooperating, a bowling alley will keep you entertained and dry. Your Cabazon motorhome rental is another potential retreat when it's time for a coffee break.

Anyone who anticipates losing weight from the activities they can try might actually be disappointed. Portions are big, prices are reasonable and your diet will just have to wait. One buffet-style restaurant offers steak, seafood, and anything you could possibly want.

There is also the option of taking some groceries back to your Cabazon luxury RV rental for a nice home-cooked meal after an exhilarating and exhausting day of adventure. Bring out the lawn chairs and dine under the stars. It doesn't get any better than this.
