There are minimal RV park options in Brighton, one of which is Barr Lake RV Park. It overlooks the beautiful Barr Lake and has easy access to all of the hiking trails in the state park surrounding it. A little bit farther out is the Pepper Pod Campground near the town of Hudson. The grounds have sites with full hookups and there’s a coin-op laundry on the premises. Another option is Wild Country RV Park near Keenesburg. It’s almost about a 30-minute drive to the northeast of Brighton, but easily accessible via I-76. Another option would be St. Vrain State Park, about 20 miles to the northwest. Adults, especially craft beer fans, looking for a night out will definitely want to head into the city though. The city of Denver has one of the highest concentrations of breweries in the country, and whether you’re into hop-forward IPAs or more mellow stouts, you can find a place that suits your tastes.

Getting Outside near Brighton

The first stop for nature lovers should be Barr Lake State Park, which is conveniently located a couple miles southeast of downtown Brighton. The park boasts 8.8 miles of trail encircling the lake along with several wildlife viewing stations that jut out into it.

If you’d prefer to spend your day participating in some shooting sports, you’ll want to visit Colorado Clays Shooting Park - one of Denver’s best ranges for skeet and trap along with rifle and pistol shooting. If you’ve never tried it, range officers can help you get started and firearm rentals are available. If golf is more your style, the Riverdale Golf Course, Todd Creek Golf Club, and the Buffalo Run Golf Course are all within a 15-minute drive from Brighton. Disc golfers should check out the Springvale course near the town of Thornton.

If you enjoy hiking and backpacking, no trip to this part of Colorado would be complete without visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, which is only a 90-minute drive away. The park is filled with azure lakes and a number of craggy peaks topping out above 12,000 feet.
