Named for its founder, John Betts, Bettsville is a small village in central Ohio established in 1838. Betts purchased nearly 70 acres of land in Liberty Township which would slowly become the village it is today. Bettsville is bisected by State Street, also known as Ohio State Route 12, the main way in and out of town. Lined with restaurants, shops, and historic brick buildings, Bettsville has a certain charm to it.

When you book an RV in Bettsville, there is enormous potential to craft the vacation of your dreams. You can tour The Buckeye State, visiting each of its great cities, or head north to the shores of Lake Erie, a vastly popular recreation destination during the summer. Toledo and Sandusky are close enough if you need some city sightseeing in your life, but serene nature parks can be found around seemingly every corner.

The Great Outdoors

Ohio is teeming with incredible parks, forests, and recreation areas, so it is absolutely up to you to figure out the sort of places to visit during your Bettsville camper rental trip. Lake Erie is a great place to visit, and so is the well-known “Vacationland” region of northern Ohio, known for its awesome views and popularity with both the locals and travelers from far away. Maumee Bay State Park is a dreamy state place located along the shores of Lake Erie, with tons to see and do. A large, upscale resort can be found on site, though some visitors opt to stay at the rustic campgrounds. You can camp out near the water with your Bettsville RV rental, go for a hike, take a dip in the lake, go fishing, or even play a round of golf. Farther to the east, East Harbor State Park is a well-known summer getaway that is often fully booked when the weather starts getting warm. The park is located towards the end of the Marblehead Peninsula, a beloved and welcoming portion of Ohio. There are miles of hiking trails, sandy beaches, quiet fishing areas, and a disc golf course at this lovely little park too.

If you head to the tip of Marblehead Peninsula, you can take a ferry over to Kelleys Island, home to the gorgeous Kelleys Island State Park. This enchanting island park is full of wonderful natural areas, scenic hiking trails, and iconic bluffs overlooking the lake. Tantalizing sunrises and sunsets are a hallmark of this special place, and you can even find a few spots to camp if you decide to bring your Bettsville RV rental over for the trip.

If you already planned on checking out the city of Cleveland during your travels, you should definitely consider stopping by Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This awe-inspiring national park can be found between Cleveland and Akron, with 30,000 acres of forest land, making it one of the country’s smallest national parks. Despite its small size, over two million people pour into the park each year to explore its fertile habitats, hidden waterfalls, secluded swimming holes, and majestic forest groves. Additionally, there are natural caves, historic settlements, and outdoor events hosted at this amazing natural treasure.

RV Parks

There is no shortage of camping areas near Bettsville, but it may take around a half hour of driving to reach the campgrounds that are most suitable for you and your Bettsville RV rental by owner. Gotta Getaway RV Park is located approximately halfway between Cleveland and Toledo, making it a perfect place to stop if you plan on visiting both cities. There is a pavilion, a swimming pool, a playground, sports courts, and laundry facilities on site for guests to use.

Auburn Lake Park is a charming, rustic campground with secluded, spacious camping spots with lots of shade and tree cover. There is a large lake with a sandy beach, a tennis court, a basketball court, shuffleboard, and lots of other fun activities to take part in too.

Sunset Springs RV Park also has its own beaches, lake, and swimming areas, along with a bevy of other amenities. Restrooms, hot showers, and laundry facilities are also available at this quiet, peaceful camping area.

City Sightseeing

Aside from the pleasant State Street that cuts through town, Bettsville mostly consists of residential areas. If you want to check out some city sights, your best bet might be to head to Fremont or Tiffin, a couple of larger cities that are only a few miles away. Tiffin is home to the Ritz Theatre, a fully restored, elegant palace of entertainment that has been around for nearly a century. This decadent work of art’s beauty alone warrants a visit, but the fantastic live performances and concerts in the theater surely make this a can’t-miss entertainment venue for patrons of the arts and fans of live music.

The Field of Dreams Drive-In Theater in Tiffin is another delightful place to spend an evening, taking part in a storied American tradition. Drive-in theaters are rare these days, so it’s always a treat to find one showing a double feature that you can watch from the comfort of your car. Delicious snacks, old movies, and a whole lot of fun await at the drive-in theater over in Tiffin.

North of town in the small city of Fremont, the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museum remains one of the region’s most popular attractions. The institution is dedicated to the 19th president of the United States, who once called the 25-acre estate his home. On-site is a 31-room Victorian mansion, a museum featuring replica Oval Office desks, presidential artifacts, and important documents written by the late president himself. When you bring your Bettsville motorhome rental for a trip to this amazing resource, you are sure to learn lots of new things.
