The Great Outdoors

Located next to Ardmore is Lake Murry State Park, a playground of beautiful scenery and recreational activities. The park is the first and largest state park in Oklahoma, with the central attraction being the lake itself. Around the lake, there is an abundance of parks, beaches, hiking trails, an 18-hole golf course, boat ramps, and more. Due to its close vicinity to town, the park is a good choice for a day trip in your Ardmore RV rental, whether it is to get on the water or simply enjoy a picnic in one of the many designated picnic spots.

The Chickasaw National Recreation Area could be described as an Oklahoma Oasis, located just north of the city, therefore just a short drive in your camper rental from Ardmore. Water is the biggest attraction at this park thanks to the huge number of springs, streams, and lakes that dot the landscape. So, whether you want to go for a swim in Little Niagara and Rock Creek, test your fishing skills in Veterans Lake or take out a boat on Lake of the Arbuckles, the recreational activity options are endless.

Within the city limits itself, there are a number of parks and outdoor spaces to be enjoyed. For example, Broadlawn Park is a simple neighborhood park, home to a playground and disc golf course. Ardmore Regional Park is home to City Lake and also has a playground, restrooms, children’s fishing pond, and a dog park. Other town parks include Whittington Park, Straughn Field, Cardinal Park, Central Park, and several others, all of which can easily be reached in your luxury motorhome from Ardmore.

RV Parks

For an RV park with a difference, you could give Cool Breeze RV Cinema and Resort a try. As the name suggests, this RV park allows you to sit under the stars and watch a film on the huge outdoor screen before heading back to your Ardmore travel trailer. Although there are a number of structured show times, visitors are able to vote for the most popular genre, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy. The park aims to make their facilities as family-friendly as possible, with many attractions just 20 minutes away or less. Some of these include Gold Mountain Casino, Ardmore Dragway and the Goddard Art Center.

Heading south you’ll come across By the Lake RV Park and Resort, which is just over a mile away from Lake Murray. The facility has 90 pull thru sites and 38 back-ins sites, and you can enjoy full hookups for your RV, 30/50 Amps, grassy yards, and free WiFi and Cable TV. The park provides a huge number of amenities which include laundry facilities, two shower areas, a swimming pool, scenic fishing pond, a children’s play area, and games room, and lots more.

To the east of town, a good RV park option is Cedars Edge RV Park and Campground, again sitting near the banks of Lake Murray. Overall the park offers 50 full RV hookups, some of which are pull-through. Due to its location on the lake, Cedars Edge does tend to have a focus on the water, with boat docks, boat ramps, fishing facilities, and a range of water sports. If the water is not your thing, the park still has lots of other activities including basketball, golfing and miniature golf, a swimming beach, mountain bike trails, and much more.
