Discover Antelope

The Great Outdoors

Situated in the Sacramento Valley near the Sierra Nevada, Antelope is just minutes away from some of the best parks in California. Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is just a short drive from the city, and visitors to the park can enjoy stunning views of the Sierra foothills while hiking or biking on over 30 miles of multi-use trails. Visitors to the park can also enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities.

If you’d like to stay a bit closer to the city, check out the Stock Ranch Nature Preserve or Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. Stock Ranch Nature Preserve in Citrus Heights offers visitors a unique opportunity to observe the natural wildlife of the Sacramento Valley as they walk, run, or bike down a series of nature trails. Sutter’s Fort is a must-see for history buffs since it offers visitors a glimpse into California’s pioneer history, and it also features hiking and biking trails for visitors to explore.

If you’re up for a trip into the mountains, check out Auburn State Recreation Area or Eldorado National Forest. Auburn State Recreation Area is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and is a hiker’s paradise. This park features over 20 miles of trails that connect with other major trails that run from Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada to the heart of Sacramento. Visitors to the park can also enjoy seasonal hunting, whitewater rafting, and a lake for fishing, swimming, and boating.

Visitors looking to head deep into the mountains, however, should check out the Eldorado National Forest. This national forest features hundreds of miles of trails, including portions of the Pacific Crest Trail. Some of the best trails in the forest are a reasonable drive from Antelope, including the Bassi Falls Trail, Lyons Creek Trail, and Horsetail Falls Trail. However, keep in mind that many trails through the Eldorado National Forest are fairly remote, and you should bring basic provisions, dress accordingly for the weather, and take basic safety precautions while hiking.

RV Parks

Antelope’s convenient location near a major city and numerous parks make it easy for visitors to find the RV park of their choice. If you want to stay among nature with the Antelope RV rental, check out Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Auburn State Recreation Area, and Eldorado National Forest. At Folsom Lake, you’ll find an excellent balance between the great outdoors and great basic amenities like hookup options, a dump station, and modern restrooms. Camping at Auburn is much more limited. The park has a handful of available campgrounds with no hookups, and large vehicles may not be able to access the campground areas. Eldorado National Forest also has a number of campgrounds that are RV-accessible, and the three closest ones are Camino Cove, West Point, and Stumpy Meadows. Stumpy Meadows is probably the best spot to consider parking the Antelope travel trailer rental since it offers limited amenities like drinking water and a dump station, and the other two are best suited for smaller RVs. If you do decide to camp in the national forest, check to make sure that the campgrounds are open since they may close during or after inclement weather.

If you’d prefer to stay closer to the city, check out the Mark J RV Park, Sherwood Harbor Marina and RV Park, and the Loomis RV Park. The Mark J RV Park is for guests 55 years and older and is just down the road from Antelope. The park offers basic amenities like full hookups, on-site laundry and RV repair, and WiFi. Sherwood Harbor is a decent spot for RVers looking to spend some time on the water. This small campground is nestled on the Sacramento River and offers full hookup sites and sites with water and electricity. If you want a few more amenities, consider a stay at Loomis RV Park. This full-service RV park has an on-site pool, modern bathrooms, and on-site gas. When you book an RV rental in Antelope, you’ll easily find a great home base for your RV.

Exploring the City

In addition to being a hub for outdoor adventure, Antelope also has plenty to do in and around the city. Since Antelope is between Sacramento and Roseville, two major cities along I-80, you’ll find everything you need in the surrounding area from chain retailers to great restaurants. Museumgoers can check out the Aerospace Museum of California in neighboring McClellan, or they can head into Sacramento to check out the California State Railroad Museum.

If you end up heading into Sacramento with the Antelope motorhome rental, be sure to check out the Old Sacramento Historic District as well as Downtown Sacramento. Roseville is also a short drive from Antelope, and it offers plenty of attractions for visitors to enjoy. The local casino is a popular destination for gamblers, and circus fans should check out Circus Vargas, one of the top-rated circus performances in the world.
