The small rural town of Adna, Washington is comprised of a scattered grouping of farms and homes. This unincorporated community is several miles west of Chehalis, and about a half an hour's drive from Olympia, the state capital of Washington. During its existence, Adna has been known by a few different names, like Willoway and Pamona. The superintendent of the railroad renamed the town Adna in honor of a family member in 1894 and the name has not changed since.

Outside of a few shops, a grocery store, a post office, and a gas station, Adna hardly qualifies as a town in its own right. That being said, you can book an RV in Adna and use it as a jumping off point for your next adventure. The town is practically halfway between Seattle and Portland, Oregon, so there is a lot of potential to roam around in your Adna camper rental. Coastal Washington is not far either with a short drive west and there are plenty of nature parks and forests to explore in any given direction. Don’t let the small town’s lack of attractions deter you; Adna is as good of a place as any to plan a trip.

Discover Adna

Experience the Sites and Scenery

Adna is advantageously located in a stunning part of Washington, with majestic mountains to its east and the glorious Pacific Ocean to the west. Rich evergreen forest blankets the state, solidifying it as one of the very best places to road trip and rent an RV. Ike Kinswa State Park can be found on the shores of Mayfield Lake nearby. Boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming are all commonly enjoyed on in the reservoir’s waters, and guests can camp in the recreation area too. When you arrive at the park in your Adna camper rental, you can also go windsurfing, mountain biking, or hiking around the lake. Leadbetter Point State Park is located in the opposite direction, on Washington’s pristine Pacific shores. The park serves as both a natural preserve for wildlife as well as a recreation area for the general public to use. Leadbetter Point sits at the very tip of a peninsula that separates the Pacific Ocean from Willapa Bay. Hiking the shores of the beaches at the state park can be extremely relaxing, and many birdwatchers visit the park each year to observe countless species of migratory birds stop by the park for a break from their travels. Fishing and clamming are exciting ways to enjoy this beach park too when you rent an RV and bring it to the coast.

Two of the best national parks in the entire country are within reach when you pick up your motorhome rental in Adna, so it is highly recommended that you see at least one of these incredible nature spots while exploring the area. Mount Rainier National Park is east of Adna in the Cascade Mountain Range and is home to one of the largest stratovolcanoes in the country. Many people attempt to summit the epic mountain but the treacherous climb ensures that it is no easy feat to do so. You can spend your time strolling through subalpine fields of wildflowers or trek around massive glaciers during the day and rest peacefully in your Adna motorhome rental overnight at one of the park’s first-rate campgrounds. Olympic National Park can be found by driving northwest and possesses some monstrous mountains of its own. The Olympic Mountain Range can be seen from across the Puget Sound all the way from Seattle on clear days, further highlighting the mountain range's dominance over the skyline. Ancient glaciers, temperate rainforests, and rugged coastline present a wide variety of varying ecosystems, all with their own characteristics and wildlife.

Where to Park It

One thing Washington will never have a shortage of is suitable campgrounds and RV parks. This outdoors-centric state is a camping hotspot so you should have no trouble choosing a great place to stay. Rainbow Falls State Park is minutes from Adna and an option for those who like to forgo luxury while they camp. There are beautiful hikes and cascading waterfalls at this lovely park too. Outback RV Park has basketball courts, playgrounds, large camping sites, and a general store to supply you with camping equipment and food throughout your stay.

Paradise RV Campground has a banquet hall, an in-ground pool, a game room, and a small grocery store. This woodsy retreat sits on the edge of a tranquil lake where swimming, boating, and fishing are encouraged.

Chehalis RV & Camping Resort has many of the same amenities, from its pool and sauna to private nature trails that you can hike, bike, or ride horses on. National parks, forests, and recreation areas are usually fantastic options too, so when you take your Adna RV rental for a mini road trip, you should find other campgrounds quite easily.

City Attractions

Adna might only be a starting point for your adventure through Washington due to its small size but you can get your full share of civilization in the nearby cities of Centralia and Chehalis. Centralia Fox Theatre is an exquisite piece of history in downtown Centralia that has been restored to its former glory. This antiquated theater is now maintained by a nonprofit in an effort to preserve its history. Several old movies are screened at the theater each month, so movie buffs should check it out.

King Agricultural Museum goes to great lengths to properly pay homage to the agricultural industry that first put Centralia on the map. Old pieces of farming equipment, tools, toys, and a variety of other interesting exhibits are constantly being showcased in the 18,000-square-foot barn that houses the museum. Lewis County Historical Museum also captures the history of the area through a different lens. The old train depot has since been repurposed to serve as a small and intimate museum where locals and visitors can learn about the county’s complex history.

The Chehalis Centralia Railroad & Museum enables patrons to actually ride on a piece of living history, through the scenic countryside of the Evergreen State. There are even special event rides like dinner galas and a fun murder mystery train ride from time to time.
